Bush works against U.S. sovereigntyRedding Holbert Jr.

Dear Editor: The Bush administration continues to deny the existence of plans designed to cancel our nation’s independence and insert the U.S. into a North American Union with Canada and Mexico. But a high-level delegation of past and present administration officials and corporate leaders journeyed to Canada in mid-September to work secretly toward that very goal. Led by former Secretary of State George Shultz and former U.S. Trade Representative Carla Hills, the U.S. participants in this North American Forum also included Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Assistant Secretary of State Thomas Shannon, Admiral Tim Keating, and several former cabinet officials.
Subject matter covered during the event included energy, security, border infrastructure, and the demographic and social dimensions of merging the three nations. Canadian author and politician Mel Hurtig attended the gathering, didn’t like what he heard and aired what he learned for the public to consider. He deserves the gratitude of each nation’s patriots. It will now be more difficult for President Bush to deny charges that he and his administration are working toward ending U.S. sovereignty. The question that looms large however is: Where is Congress while all this is proceeding? To date, almost total silence.
