Oh, I get it now . . .
After watching the news shows this weekend, I fully understand now what Bush's new "way forward" is all about.

It took me a little while but, brilliantly, I might add, Bush will push for his "surge" (escalation) and if and when it is turned down by the Dems, he will state, for historical purposes, that he WANTED to win in Iraq that he wanted to put more troops in to win this war but was hog-tied by the new Democratic congress.

When we lose the war, which is inevitable no matter what, Bush can claim, I COULD have won it but the Democrats stopped me. That will definitely be the 08 strategy as far as Iraq is concerned. The Democrats LOST the Iraq war. It seemed weird to me that they didn't try to fix the election and took the November defeat without crying so much. It's all coming together now. Blame the Dems, blame Congress but you can't blame Bush because he wanted to win.

1. Good analysis imo; McCain's reading off the same page. And
do you know what? I don't care HOW it's done, I want those troops home. We can discuss later who's culpable, though I don't think history will look down on the blivet kindly.

2. there might be some truth in that, but it's still a losing strategy
it's bush's war, and he lost it. and no cheap stunt on the way out will change that, not even in the minds of poorly informed swing voters.

3. I made exactly this point somewhere around here a few days ago.
I think this is exactly what's going on. This strategy will play well to his base, but the Dems had best not fall for it. We need to call for an end to this mess. We may not be able to stop the "surge;" Shrubler may already have the money for it. But we can be very clear about advising against it and hanging it around his neck if he chooses to go ahead anyway.

4. NO, as I think most people realize/know that Bush/Repugs were in
charge since the beginning.

7. Nice try buckwheat, but he will NEVER overcome the fact that
they manipulated evidence in favor of the War of Lies, destroyed people and careers to get his way, and then after he got his way, the dumbass didn't know what to do with it. So nice try but our kids know the truth and will not allow history to be rewritten!

8. No, it's even more simple than that
Bush simply doesn't want the war to end during his administration.

In Bush's typical black-or-white, simple-minded view of reality, he firmly believes that if he can stall the war until the next admin, he's not responsible for "losing" the war. His successor is.
