get their attention". i m not sure where that saying came from but what i mean is that to end the war, the public has to decisively let the politicians know that ending the war is what we want. This may require interrupting a press conference or two.
In an early thread that got out of hand a poster stated, "If you really want to support an anti-war progressive, throw your support behind someone like Dennis Kucinich who actually has a chance in getting something done." I didn't get a chance to comment on that. I lived thru the Vietnam War and barely avoided going. I was drafted, had my physical and was classified 1A. What I learned from that war was that the politicians won't, they will not take action to end the war without a huge public outcry. Millions died in that war while the politicians discussed and investigated. It wasn't until there was number cases of civil disobedience, buildings burned, bombs exploded, and protesters getting shot, that finally the politicians figured out the public was serious. I, in no way, proscribe to violence or even civil disobedience, but am just sayin', if you sit back and leave it up to the politicians and their profiteering sponsors, we will be in war forever.
Cindy Sheehan is risking a lot to fight to end this war. She has already sacrificed way more than Dennis Kucinich or any other of the elite politicians. She might not be a democrat, but she is a free American, will to do her part to end this horrible war that is tearing the Country apart.
DU moderators, i hope this doesn't restart the viciousness shown in the earlier thread, but i just had to say it. Rhett o rick
