1. Really, he isn't popular here?
Edited on Sun Jan-07-07 12:44 PM by CJCRANE
There's so many Bidenies...Bideniacs...Bidenites...

Ok, yeah, you're right.

On edit: apologies for the sarcasm but Biden doesn't really seem to have grabbed the attention of DU...in general DUers seem to like people who stand out from the mainstream so I don't think Joe's the guy.

3. Depends on what speech he is plagerizing that day, I guess.

Seriously, here's a link:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=post&forum=132&topic_id=3045567&mesg_id=3045567

Basically, he's strong on civil liberties, labor, farmer issues, health care, education, aid to Africa, and the environment. He's mixed on war, abortion (mainly partial-birth abortion). He's not my favorite by a long shot (he's been inconsistent on Iraq), but we could do worse. And better.

Mainly, I don't trust him. He's too opportunistic. But he's moderate to liberal on most issues.

4. Pardon my language, but....
I fucking HATE MBNA, and he's the ultimate MBNA corporate shill.

I've never been a one-issue voter, but I might be willing to make an exception in his case.

15. not defending it but....
he is a Delaware Senator. Corporations are their thing. He wouldnt be a DE senator w/o being pro-corporation. That being said, I like Joe but dislike the corporate culture.

5. Biden just might surprise everyone & become the dark horse candidate
although he'd have to find a way to butter up the base more than he has in the past.

6. I doubt he will get anywhere...but
He is a very skilled politician, a very good debater, and has a very good sense of humor....in early caucus states where one on one campaigning is important, he could do better than you think

It's not a joke that he is running...

7. Biden's biggest drawback
is that he's been in the Senate since he was three years old.

It is hard enough being elected President from the Senate, but if you've served more than two terms, you are truly cooked.

Which is a shame, because he has the intelligence and resolve to be a pretty good CIC.

9. You don't think Biden's worth discussing on the day he officially announced?
He might not be the front runner or anything, but I wouldn't underestimate this guy.

11. I met him the first time he ran
Edited on Sun Jan-07-07 02:56 PM by LiberalEsto
which I believe was in 1976. He talked a good talk. He's done a lot of running since them.

I honestly don't think he has a chance. He voted for the war and for a bad republican bankruptcy bill. He's a corpocrat and definitely not a progressive. I would support him against any repug if he won the nomination, but I will not support him in any way in the primaries.

...Cheney** and Rumsferatu are two of the smartest people in DC, and they can't HONESTLY think we've been succeeding in Iraq the past three years - even though that's what they've been claiming all along.

Sweet.

14. I could never vote for him. He will just confuse the primaries,
which will eliminate him, as the base will not support him. I wish he would just stay out of the race.
