Poll question: How do you think the new Democratic Congress is doing so far?
Edited on Mon Jan-08-07 12:44 PM by ConservativeDemocrat
Are you overjoyed, disappointed, or something in between? Here's your chance to grade the Democrats, whether you consider them heaven sent or war criminals in disguise.

(on edit: added incomplete for people who don't have an opinion yet. kick this if you want it on top.)

1. Incomplete
Far too early to give them a grade.

3. Geez, barely two days in control...
I'd say it's a bit premature to rate. But hope springs eternal.

4. I gave 'em a B
Edited on Mon Jan-08-07 12:56 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
They have done a "good" job in stopping the pukes' whining from winning the day and managed to repudiate Bush's "surge" rhetorically. Both are excellent results, but there is plenty of room for improvement. There was lobbying reform with broad support, but it was not as strong as hoped.

A classic case of a "B", in my opinion. Good results, but not excellent.

A "A" requires extra effort to earn, in my opinion.

Yes, I teach. Obviously not English.

7. Too early to tell. Rhetoric doesn't equal action.

8. Sold us out
I think Ms. Pelosi has sold us out. In August 2006 she signed a letter to the President to start redeployment of our troops from Iraq by the end of 2006. Now she has the control of the purse strings and is doing nothing to get our troops out. We need to tell Ms. Pelosi to defund the Iraq war NOW!

11. Harvey, Harvey, Harvey...she's been in control...
two damn days. Saying she's "doing nothing to get our troops out" is an absolutely false statement. Nice try.

9. I like the Iraq letter.
But it needed/needs more teeth. We shall see.

I am REALLY SICK of congressional pay hikes, congressional pension benefits and congressional health plans. I'd really like to see the congressional pensions and health plans EITHER eliminated (reduced to Social Security and Medicare like the rest of us) or linked to improvements in American care.

I think the link of the congressional raise to the minimum wage is a good start, but hope that these other things will be addressed as well.

I would like to see a simple investigation of the Bush/Cheney/Rice stock portfolios and whether these three can be proven to be benefitting financially from the Iraqi War. If so, I'd say "conflict of interest" and impeachment could be easy to come by.

Overall, I'm pretty happy so far.
