For 2008: If not 'your guy' ...... then who?
It is obvious to the most casual of DU perusers that we have many passionate early adopters with respect to the 08 race. Clearly some of these early adopters will be thrilled and others will be disppaointed.

My question today is not who you support, but who you would support if 'your guy' either chooses not to run or gets knocked out early.

I also hope you'll refrain from saying who your guy is. It isn't germaine to my question and can - as often happens - lead to thread pissers.

2. Gore..
If my guy doesn't run I will hope against hope that Gore decides to enter the fray....

If Gore doesn't run I could probably lean Obama?

It's a tough call considering all of the candidates that could end up in the race may not even be on the radar at this point.

And I'd vote for any Democrat.

Chances are, I'm going to be happy.

6. Whoever the Democratic nominee is. Whoever.

And if you won't support the democratic nominee then GTFO off DU, and go to Independant Underground, Green Underground, and whatever other third party that will never make a difference site you want to post on.

Forgive me for being a bitch about this but people that don't support the Democratic nominee are not Democrats.

10. Totally agree!
I will support anyone who gets the nomination as should everyone here. So far, I'm hoping the nomination will be either Gore or Clark.

12. I can only think of ONE DEMOCRAT I would NOT vote for right now
FK JOE LIEBERMAN I wouldn't show up at the polls. It's the same as a vote for a PUG.

Actually I will vote for ANYONE that doesn't smell like an infected PUG!

(ok so the only republican that I can THINK of that doesn't smell infected is Hagel but I'm sure there may be a few more)

Any DEM would do........ I love this new 110th! (generally speaking)

8. I haven't chosen anyone yet. It's WAY too soon!
There are reasons I could support all of thesupposed candidates so far, and also reasons I wouldn't. I want to see who say what, who does what, and how they react on the campaign trail.

I like Gore now, but if he would revert back to the stiffguy of 2000, forget it.

I like Edwards, but I need to see how strong he looks when confronted by his opposition.

I like a lot of Hillary's ideas, but I need to see how she's going to respond to opposition too.

The others, I really haven't seen enough of them to make a decision. I really think it's way too soon for anyone to decide right now.

9. My "guy" is Clark. I'm surprised to hear myself saying Obama next
...but seeing what he had to say about Iraq early on, combined with his obvious political charm, puts him in second place for me at this point in time. I know Gore seems the obvious second choice, but I'm a little gun shy of the vitriol he seems to inspire in about half of Americans (I love the guy, personally).

I know it's masturbatory to be talking running mates at this point in the game, but I think Clark/Obama would be an almost guaranteed 16 year Democratic dynasty. More importantly, it could make the future 1000% safer and more secure for my daughter, and children around the world, for that matter.

20. I agree about a Clark/Obama ticket.
And Clark's not even "my guy". As a matter of fact, I don't really think I have a "guy". There are a lot of fine people who are being considered as Democratic nominees right now, and I'd vote for any of them.

17. Kerry - Gore - Obama - Edwards - (put anti-Hillary here)
My choices basically run the political spectrum from furthest left to centrist. Based on actual policy choices, Kerry is the furthest to the left and my enthusiasm gathers most intensely around those who most support my political convictions as actual public servants, not performers at the horse-and-pony show the media would love to make the Presidency.

(note: perhaps Edwards is now further left than Obama, but I have an admitted soft spot for political precedence.)

35. in 2004 it was Dean..then Kucinich
I was a solid Dean supporter, but he dropped out before my primary. I voted for Kucinich, and naturally backed Kerry after he won the nomination. my problem now..I don't have a clue who I'll support in next year's primaries! I always wait until I know everyone on the ballot or have seen them in a few debates before making my decision. So far I've been very impressed and surprised with John Edwards and Mike Gravel, so neither of these candidates has lost my primary vote for 2008.

but Richardson, Bredesen, and Biden have done nothing to win my support..put plenty to lose it!

I'd be just fine with eiither Edwards or Obama, they're my top picks, but would be willing to vote for any democrat over whoever the republicans nominate. I think that General Clerk could be a good president to, but I doubt that he'd get the nomination.
