plan and proposed legislation?
Now it seems to me if I were *Co - I would take Kennedy's words and turn them around on him and the Dems.
I applaud Kennedy for speaking out on this issue and putting forth a plan and direction. I'm just questioning the timing.
His speech to the Press Club was wonderful. He hit all the right notes as to what people here on DU have been saying.
I noticed Tweety in the audience. I can't wait to watch his show today to get his take on this.
BTW - Kennedy got a standing ovation.

I would bet Kennedy considered this before making his speech. |
|
No doubt there is a reason for the timing. Perhaps it was done intentionally prior to *'s speech in order to have an effect on the speech itself.
Don't you just know that * is nervous today. Gotta face the enemy tonight.
Karma can be a real bitch.

the minute the shrub was done speaking, the rwingers would have said, "The Dems have no plan, so we'll just have to go with what Bush says to do."

Kennedy did a forceful thing by framing the debate on escalation. Bush couldn't possible spin Kennedys word's he's not that intelligent. Kennedy primed the people for no escalation. Bush will be sandwiched by the Dem rebuttle tonight he will come off as an idiot. Plus Kennedy threw in healthcare.

7. Bush would not be the one crafting the response |
|
He has people far more intelligent than himself to do that.

3. Well, now it looks like Bush is *responding* |
|
Especially since Americans are anti-escalation, this makes it look like Bush is isolated and delusional. Or maybe it's just me.

5. Kennedy said they can't wait and must pre-empt Bush because he will |
|
have the troops in there before Congress has a chance to act and that must not happen. If Congress waits to cut off funds and Bush sends the troops then the Dems will be accused of "not funding the troops."
He's doing it now to get the Bill on the floor right after Bush's speech if Bush doesn't BACK OFF his Escalation.
That's why he did it early.

and necessary move from Kennedy. Pressure for his bill and he echoes the people's sentiment about anti-escalation. His speech cut shrub to a nub! Well done, Teddy!

6. Ted Kennedy is "leading".......and so he didn't need to "wait" to see |
|
what the decider had decided cause we already know what that is.
I think Ted's timing is apropos.

I just watched this, too and I'll 2nd everything you've stated. I wish Ted was in Reid's position. Since Reid was a boxer, he needs to "take the gloves off" on this one......and keep them off!!!

11. Senator Kennedy was already scheduled to speak on health care. He said |
|
he would speak on that topic at a later date because he changed the topic for today. The Senator knew exactly what he was doing.
I don't feel that anything should revolve on the insanity of Shrub and whatever he has to say on any subject.
Speak out America!
Drown out the * noise!
