Poll question: Draft or NO Draft?
So they are publicizing that they are dusting off and testing the draft machines on the news. I wonder why they are doing this? HMMMMMM. Charles Rangel wants to bring back the draft and I am sure the Bushites though they deny they are for a draft really want one. Where is this going to go?

1. There won't be any draft. Congress WOULD STOP THAT!
Thebig problem is for those already in the military. Seems the MG contract says they will not be deployed overseas more than one 12 month tour every two years. Withwar hound Shrub, that part of the contract will have to be ignored.

Gee, I wonder if people can still take refuge in Canada? That may be the only answer.

4. only if a bunch of yellowbellied democrats found a spine.
remember how many of them have blindly supported the patriot act, without even reading it; the invasion of iraq; and various other actions that have eroded constitutional rights of Americans.

I think there will be a draft. Even if Cheney has to manufacture a crisis to get one.

7. sorry, Canada got bullied by Bush to refuse AWOL
soldiers refugee status, despite overwhelming Canadian popular support.

8. Can't go to Canada. Go to South America.
I am sure countries like Venezuela, Brazil, Chile, or Argentina would have no problem allowing draft dodgers down there.

2. Unless he manages to engineer a war with Iran that can be blamed
Edited on Tue Jan-09-07 05:27 PM by Warpy
on their aggression, not ours, the general draft won't be sold to either Congress or the people.

However, I can see them trying to tweak Iran's nose almost daily.

My guess is that he'll try to shove a "special skills" draft (with the "skills" unspecified) through by the end of the year. Given the number of Blue Dogs in Congress, it will probably be successful.

6. First of all
all of the high school, college and national sports teams should stop wasting time and energy entertaining America while we are at war. Those young men, strong and resourceful should be sent to the front lines. Then all of the young Republicans. We'll see how long that fuckin' war lasts then. I was going to put the sarcasm icon in about *here* but cha know what? I mean it. No more, football, basketball, baseball, track, hockey, none of it, until our boys and girls are home. Why should there be such a discrepancy in whose life is expendable and who makes a sacrifice at home. Oh, yeah, they fragged Tillman. He must have asked questions about the humanity of torturing detainees during interrogations.
