Lawrence O'Donnald thinks the 100 hours was a BAD idea
Edited on Wed Jan-10-07 01:04 PM by bigdarryl
He's hosting AAR for Franklin and he made a point saying the 100 hours the dems are doing pasting stuff is a bad idea in the wake of all the news coverage on Bush's news conference the 100 hours is getting no coverage and most of the American people could care less and the minimum wage increase should have been done over a 3 to 4 day period.

2. Like I care what Larry thinks
Good man .... no doubt but right now I follow the lead of Pelosi & Reid

Our elected leaders who are doing what they promised to do during the
election. They promised to these actions and now they are delivering ....
good on them!

3. The 100 hours approach helped the Dems win the election. That was good.

6. I am not sure O'Donnald is corrrect this time.
I understand that CNN has a clock counting down the first 100 hours. I haven't seen it, I do not watch CNN and I am sure their motive is to watch the dems fail but it is still coverage.

It certainly has a lot of coverage on the webb and if for any reason it fails (it won't) you can bet there will be a huge amount of coverage.

7. I think the 100 hours is a GOAL to keep themselves on track.
What's important is what they get done -- and the American people will notice, especially after all the years of nothing getting done.

And I don't understand the logic of taking three to four days to pass the minimum wage bill -- a bill that is LONG overdue and needs very little discussion.

9. It's just his opinion. I don't remember when something like this
was tried before, but then I'm really not up to snuff on Congressional history. But if it's never been tried before, I think we need to sit back and wait for this pudding to rise and cook.

It could be that he will get his long drawn out publicity to get people to pay attention in the Senate and then in the veto that Bush will probably do. After than don't they have to get a quorum to override the veto? That may be where you see the real power of this Congress in action or maybe lack of it.

12. It's not about press coverage
It's about getting things that are necessary done. Who cares if it's not getting coverage? As long as good work is getting done.

13. isn't it 100 working hours? That is 2.5 weeks which is plenty of time to at least
start the process. Let's let these people do their jobs, damnit.

14. Umm - Larry - the Dems set the 100 hour agenda FIRST. Bush bogarted it
An obvious desperation move on his part.

And it's not like the Dems haven't gotten plenty of coverage in the past couple of weeks. Last week was one big Valentine and they're getting equal time this week like they haven't gotten in years since they're now in Leadership.

Dems are doing just fine, thank you.
