US makes unannounced and unprovoked act of war against Iran
Edited on Thu Jan-11-07 11:13 AM by TechBear_Seattle
Numerous threads have mentioned the US troops that broke into the Iranian consulate in Iraq and took computers, files and six consulate staff members hostage, so everyone here should already have that information (or you can see link in post #3 below.)

But by centuries of diplomatic protocol, embassies and consulates are the sovereign territory of the country they represent, by definition. Any action taken against an embassy is an action taken against the country itself. So consider:

Under international law, the United States invaded Iran, stole Iranian property and seized representatives of the Iran government.

This was a deliberate act of war.

I'm not surprised that the MSM has not yet revealed this, but that doesn't make it any less true. Open warfare has begun, with the United States (yet again) invading a sovereign country unprovoked. Has Congress expressed any opinion yet in this matter?

Edit: Corrected and added facts.

2. I just found this BBC News report
US forces storm Iranian consulate

US forces have stormed an Iranian consulate in the northern Iraqi town of Irbil and seized six members of staff.

The troops raided the building at about 0300 (0001GMT), taking away computers and papers, according to Kurdish media and senior local officials.

The US military would only confirm the detention of six people around Irbil.

The article continues at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/6251167.stm

I will correct the OP.

3. An escalation of provocation -
Arresting two diplomats a couple weeks ago had no effect, so now they're upping the ante.

* wants his war with Iran, and he will get it, just as he got his war on Iraq.

Likliest scenario, a retaliatory terror attack on US interests, probably overseas, possibly at home, which can be linked to Iran.

Then the shit will fly.
