Simple Question

An American soldier is patrolling an Iraqi neighborhood and sees two men shooting at each other. They are both dressed in standard insurgent garb. The soldier does not know which one is Sunni and which is Shiite. Who does the soldier shoot? and why?

It just seems to me that I see these 18 year old kids firing their weapons all over Iraq in a chaotic manner but they don't know exactly who they are fighting and why. That is why we can't call our involvement war. We are not on anybody's side. We can't technically win. The Sunnis or the Shiites have the ability to annihilate one another and declare victory by assuming power in Iraq. We are just observers getting in the way and getting killed.

We had a major offensive with our most sophisticated military might thrust upon Baghdad the other day and we killed like 50 insurgents. There are probably a thousand new insurgents entering the fight every day. We can't win.

Listen Joe Your point is correct we have not picked a side and could not tell which persons were on that side if we had. Bush's war in Iraq sis in fact an illegal occupation and was doomed from its' start. The best way to win in Iraq is to declare victory and get the fuck out.

How can the American military confront the enemy and clear them out of Iraq when they don't know the difference between the enemy and the friend. They are both alike on the outside. And the American military can't tell what's on the inside (beliefs).
