Am "in like" with Dodd - tell me why I shouldn't be
This is unless Al jumps in or if Clark shows some real "surge." I like what he posits on the recent interviews ala experience - but do not know much about his social issues stands.

The fact that I now like him does not bode well for him -- still have my Bradley buttons.

Tell me what I need to know before I donate to yet another lost cause.

1. Oh My.....Bradley

:loveya: :loveya: :loveya:

And don't forget Mario Cuomo..... What a waste he never made it to the Supreme Court......

I'm also in like with Dodd....As with You, Gore is my first choice at this point with Clark a far second.....

At this point Dodd is a real long shot. I don't think he has the "media" appeal that many of the others have established.

2. For openers, Chris Dodd is the MOST qualified of all those running
Edited on Thu Jan-11-07 05:41 PM by fuzzyball
Much more than Edwards, humongously more than Obama,
head and shoulders above Hillary. But my personal preference
is still Hillary now that gov/sen Bayh has dropped out.

So, there is absolutely NO reason why you should not be for Dodd.

3. I don't have dirt on Dodd
He originally supported the IWR but admitted his error fairly early if I remember correctly. He is a Senator and Senators almost never win the Presidency. It seems he's a long shot.

However based on non definitive things I am still hearing from people associated with Wes Clark, I still expect Clark to run, and I think he is working on that right now. So if you like Clark, don't presume you won't be hearing from him soon. His PAC is starting to make more noise also. Just got another mass email from them.

By the way Clark will be on Air America today at 6:30pm ET/3:30pm PT with Rachel Maddow and 8pm ET/5pm PT with Mark Green. You can also listen live online at http://airamericaradio.com

4. I like Dodd.
But not enough to support him for President. I'd support him if he got the nomination, but that seems doubtful. But we will see!

He'd make a great VP candidate!

5. He seems to be the real deal.
Plus, although he has a full head of white hair, I don't get the impression that he "fluffs" himself up, i.e., not a mirror hog but The Genuine Article.

As the Junior High Kids say I "like like" him for our President so far. :patriot:

Edited on Thu Jan-11-07 05:57 PM by Kerry2008
From his website. Start the conversation.

I wish him luck, but I don't think he'll be the nominee. But we will see, I don't like counting out candidates. Especially since I do like Senator Dodd!

7. I've got Paul Simon buttons
and that's the former Senator, not the musician.

Experience, temperment, abilility, managing skills, leadership skills. These are all things to consider in addition to policy when choosing a candidate to support. Choose who you believe will do the best job, just as importantly be ready to move on to your next choice if your first has to end his/her campaign.

Edited on Thu Jan-11-07 06:09 PM by monarch
you would be in love, not just like. This is a guy who goes to neighborhood parties and stays until after 2:00am (long after the hostess has gone to bed) talking politics or just life in general with anyone who is willing to keep up the conversation. This is a wonderful, easy to be with person.

9. Here is what you need to know
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/regulation/etc/script.html
>>
HEDRICK SMITH: But what happened next stunned observers.

Sen. CHRISTOPHER DODD (D-CT): But I believe that the override is the proper course to follow here.

HEDRICK SMITH: Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut, then head of the Democratic National Committee, led the effort to overturn Clinton's veto.

Sen. CHRISTOPHER DODD: It is with a deep sense of regret that I'm on the opposite side of my president on this issue.

CHARLES LEWIS, Center for Public Integrity: Chris Dodd, here he is, he's Chairman of the Democratic Party, but he's also the leading advocate in the U.S. Senate on behalf of the accounting industry. And he helps overturn the veto of his own president, who installed him as Democratic chairman. Chris Dodd might as well have been on the accounting industry's payroll. He couldn't have helped them any more than he did as a U.S. senator.

HEDRICK SMITH: By way of thanks, the accounting industry gave Senator Dodd nearly one quarter of a million dollars in political donations, even though, at the time, Dodd was not up for reelection.

RICHARD WALKER, SEC Enforcement Chief (1998-2001): The accountants were the big winners with the Litigation Reform Act. The law imposed a proportionate liability standard, which means that if the accountants only contribute to, say, 20 percent of the loss, then they would only be responsible for 20 percent of the amount that would have to be paid.
....
CHARLES LEWIS, Center for Public Integrity: Many of the people complaining loudest about how shocked, shocked they are that there's a problem with this industry not being closely regulated were two peas in a pod, close with the industry themselves, helping the industry get deregulated throughout the '90s- Billy Tauzin, Chris Dodd, Senator Lieberman from Connecticut. And when journalists try to talk with them now about their flip-flop, many of them are just not available for comment.
>>

I seem to remember Arthur Levitt's book describes Dodd's involvement. (Former SEC Chairman -- Arthur Levitt.)

>>
SARAH TESLIK: Well, the insurance companies in Connecticut and the accountants are heavily based in Connecticut. FASB is in Connecticut. Both Senator Lieberman and Senator Dodd have historically been very protective of accountants and very protective of executives. Even though they talk a good liberal Democratic line, if you look at the votes and you look at the actions, it's not there.

13. Giving him a reserved "pass" on the CPA issue
due to his state allegiance and the fact that my beloved deceased spouse was a CPA and a non-social issues traditonal Repub. But thanks for the alert - will see wat his FASB stances, Oxley/Sarbanes etc are. But now am looking at the "big picture" --- but if corporate cronyism looms large, will back off. Again, thanks.

But I seem to remember Levitt had a copy of some correspondence in the appendix.

I probably need to go back and re-read the book.

15. Dodd is the Co-Sponsor of HAVA- FUCK DODD !!!
Chris Dodd is personally responsible for the use of corrupt, vote changing Electronic Voting Machines
used to count over 80 percent of the Votes in American Elections
He has NEVER shown any remorse or interest in rectifying the Absolute Evil he has foisted upon
America which he is directly responsible for. He is directly responsible for the
evisceration and obliteration of any and all Integrity, Accountability, and Transparency in the Sanctity
of the Vote in American elections.
Unless and until he acts to repeal HAVA and make amends for the damage which he has done to America, he has forfeited
any and all right to hold Public office in America.
FUCK CHRIS DODD !!!!

Dodd was the co-sponsor along with the Right Honorable Bob Ney
I'm not sure if these sites list the sponsors though
I used these sites to download my copies of HAVA
I'm sure that you can Google HAVA and Senator Dodd

32. LOL, I was always a Bradley fan, too
Still am, actually. I'm a sucker for a really smart guy.

And my family always teases me -- says "NO! Don't put that bumper sticker on -- it's the kiss of death!" My record is so bad, you see.

Dodd's my senator, and an all-round bright and good guy.

I'm doubtful on the "charisma" front, however. He certainly lacks the "star power" of someone like Obama, who gets lots of press because of it. And expect to hear plenty connecting him (in a negative way) to his buddy Teddy Kennedy. There'll be lots of reminders of his days as a single guy -- without stressing the fact that he WAS in fact single at the time.

He's certainly always been a far, far better senator than the jr. senator from our state... but that's not saying much, is it?

I'm keeping an open mind all around, myself.
