I have not been paying that much attention today, so this surprised me.

I have seen a lot of those names before. I did not realize they would be against this bill. Surprised me. I remember some of them are with Democrats for Life and some with the groups below, Blue Dogs and New Dems.

won't rule the majority. I thought they might have been smart enough to pick up on the 2006 elections.

2. I don't agree with their votes, but I guess I have to say that maybe

they votedthe way the people who elected them wanted them to vote. Inoticedquite a few of the people you cited were fromred states or at least purple ones. I wishit would have passed with over 60 votes too, but isn't it the job of a rep to vote the way the people who elected them want?

and he (again) did not vote the way I would have wanted.

A few, like Marcy Kaptur, are generally liberal but pro-choice (Kaptur comes from a working-class, Catholic, labor-heavy district).

I'm just saying why they did it. If it's any consolation, it's that there are even more Republican defectors on this bill.

To vote how their district wants. My congress people never ever ever worry about that anymore though....they all vote with Bush. Nelson pays no attention to us. He had almost 3000 calls against the war, and never listened.

Apparently the ones who "wanted" it didn't call...they just assumed they wanted the war.

Yes, that is their job. But I suspect some are carrying personal beliefs in this area into the political arena. Some there don't even approve of contraception.

they don't whip abortion-related votes. So its not really a party thing. I'll the votes of these members on other issues. In the end, this will be an issue in the presidential campaign. And that's not a bad thing.

11. My own Blue Dog congressman voted yes on stem cells.

He has often pissed me off, but I'm happy we agree on this.
