Does anybody here like Bill Richardson for '08?

I really like his foreign policy background.

I've decided to work for Edwards, I think they would make a heck of a team, with either one in the top spot and their geography and skills compliment each other. I like that we have a genuine diplomat in our camp who took the initiative and went over to work on the Darfur problem, and if it's true as the earlier poster stated, that New Mexico might be the first state to call for impeachement, I might like him even more.

It's sad that a Governor had to do this instead of our State Department but wow what a job he did!

No more secrecy and privilege - it is KILLING this country. I will support any candidates who make REAL open government a major issue.

The wife and I both like him a lot! For some reason, I trust what he says. I can't say that about too many politicians. John Edwards, Richardson, and just a couple of others are the only ones I really believe are sincere when they speak.

...I think he'd be better in the Veeper spot. (And I think that's what he's actually angling for.)He needs a bit more national exposure, and the GOPpies need a chance to yank his skellingtons outta the closet and parade them around until they're not "news" any more. Those things could be accomplished without too much harm if he were #2 on the ticket, and then he'd be in a good position to go for the top spot.

He's been in Congress, Been Energy Secretary, UN Ambassador and has had many well publicized diplomatic missions. The guy is loaded with experience. I don't see what more he needs to do.

11. I live in New Mexico, so NO

He got into office by promising to end the state sales tax on food. What he actually did was give a tax cut to the richest people in a poor state. That threw him into enough of a budget deficit that he had to go crawling to the lege for permission to raid the state trust fund to pay a raise to teachers.

He eventually did get rid of the food tax, three years down the line, but jacked up all other sales taxes and licensing fees to give a net tax INCREASE to the poorest of us.

In other words, he's a supply sider, a DLCer, a procorporate type. We don't need another one of those.

I would much rather see him as Secretary of State. He would be stellar in that job.

13. He's my guy

I think he would walk in if he were nominated. The Reps have nobody who could supply the same experience, knowledge and speaking ability. His moderate policies would sell very well in the general election and would draw swing voters to our side.

I would gladly work on and donate to his campaign were he to run but I fear he is too moderate for the purists in the primaries and stands little chance of gaining the nomination.
