Bush poll numbers - a query of the 'inside baseball' DUers ......
So, today we hear that his numbers are deeper in the dumper than they've ever been .... and that they continue trending in the southerly direction.

My question is ...... while he has yet to descend to the 'lowest ever' approvals yet, he's been in the weeds for a **long** time. How long were any other president's approvals down in this neighborhood? Was any one of them as/more reviled for a longer time than 'The Worst President Ever'?

1. Nope. According to Scarborough...
Even Nixon and LBJ had higher approval ratings. FWIW...

2. I think only Truman's and Nixon's were lower, and W is headed there fast
Found this graph showing approval ratings at end-of-office:

3. I'm actually asking about duration more than depth ... and I think Carter's were

lower, too ..... 24% comes to mind.

But my question is about the length of time they stayed low, not necessarily the specific number.

Nixon, for example, was not all that bad when he won the second term. They went south after that, as I recall.

4. In that context, Jimmy Carter's were well under 50% for three of his four years
That's the only comparable that comes to my mind.

Seems like the Decider's been subterranean for his entire residency, except for right after 9/11.

5. That's an amazing graph!
Only Clinton and Ford went out better than they came in.

And Clinton .... man oh man ...... another reason he's the Big Dawg!

6. Truman's the only one who has *sustained* really low numbers.
When other presidents do badly in polls, they realize they're doing something wrong and work to correct it. Only Truman sustained low numbers for a long period of time. On the other hand, polling numbers back then weren't as realiable as today... just ask President Dewey.
