3. So Condi is now so oblivious...
...she cannot contemplate her reproductive status without a hint? Even as a male chauvinist pig, I recognize how much this tack denigrates women....IE:It is an insult to bring up a womans status as a birthing machine, since any woman would be embarassed by her failure to "pop one out"....

4. Boxer is spot on to point out Rice's "family life"
The bitch has no stake in the game, but she's fine sending others to die. Stay after her, Senator!

5. Enh, I'm child-free and don't have a problem with this exchange:
""Who pays the price? I'm not going to pay a personal price," Boxer said. "My kids are too old, and my grandchild is too young."

Then, to Rice: "You're not going to pay a particular price, as I understand it, with an immediate family.""

It's something Rice should be tormented by every waking (and slumbering) moment - sending someone else's kids off to die for a lie.

10. I also have no children and I'm with you, I have no problem with Boxer's statement
Not only does Condi not have to worry about her children being put in harm's way, she doesn't have any nieces, nephews, siblings, or a spouse that might be sent off to die in Bush's war. It was a legitimate observation.

6. THANK YOU A THOUSAND TIMES, SENATOR BOXER!!!
I clicked open the article in the vile NY Post, and here is what I read:

Rice appeared before the Senate in defense of President Bush's tactical change in Iraq, and quickly encountered Boxer.

"Who pays the price? I'm not going to pay a personal price," Boxer said. "My kids are too old, and my grandchild is too young."

Then, to Rice: "You're not going to pay a particular price, as I understand it, with an immediate family."

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is what is called SPEAKING TRUTH TO POWER. It is also called ALTRUISM.

I remember when Barbara Boxer stood up in the senate in protest, after the stolen election. And now I OWE HER BIGTIME, yet again.

Thank you, Senator Boxer, for speaking the real, unvarnished truth to this oil-company-board-member-shill-enabler-of-corruption, Condoleezza Rice.

7. I think it was meant metaphorically...
as none of the Bush Co members have children serving in Iraq. They are twisted, but not stupid. I'm glad someone is hammering through this point. Where are Cheney's kids, or Rumsfeld's? I think it was FDR that had all of his children serving on WWII.

If the Bush twins were actually serving in Iraq, even behind a desk, it would give Bush a lot more credibility - but of course, he is not stupid.

8. My, my, my what an incredible waste of newsprint. Let's not spend time discussing what
was actually being talked about, let's talk about how mean those Dems are! Waaahhhh! Not to mention that wasn't even close to being the main point of the hearing and they damn well know that Boxer didn't say what she said to point out that condi is childless, she said that the two of them aren't putting a close family member on the firing line. That neither of them could possibly understand the sacrifice that a large number of American families are going through. Nope, let's put our fingers in our ears and write a stupid op-ed about how nasty and low Sen Boxer is. Bunch of stinking "liberal" media scumbags. Notice how they never put their names to these pieces of steaming crap? NEVER.

because she doesn't have any family to support her! I don't remember these same sources lining up to criticize Laura at the time.

14. Hey, posters, will you join me in a little "what-if" exercise?
Let's pretend that RICE were the democrat/progressive/liberal. Let's pretend that such a person were childless--apparently by choice, as Rice apparently is. Let's pretend that this hypothetical Rice were a powerful woman--say, Secretary of State, or something like that--and that she (like the rest of her administration) showed a shocking callousness and lack of caring for the fact that SOMEONE ELSE'S VERY YOUNG RELATIVES were being essentially used for cannon fodder, to enable old, fat, drunken, gouty men like Cheney to become even richer.

Now, I think we KNOW what the supporters of Bush/Cheney would be saying, don't we? "She's an atheist manhating lesbian secular evil ANTI-FAMILY anti-Christian immoral inhuman insane maladjusted waste of a person!"

Yes, that is exactly what they would subject such a person to.

I dare them to deny it.

16. I think this was overstepping. If you think she doesn't care about the troops, say so
It's a cheap shot, and unnecessary cheap shot, to suggest Dr. Rice hasn't performed her womanly duty by cranking out some young'uns. The honest, direct point is that she and the Bush administration don't give a shit about all the young people who have and will yet die for this oil grab. Denegrating women is never an acceptable tactic in political discourse.

22. No she didn't. Boxer said Rice had "no immediate family" that would
pay the price for this war." And Boxer said that neither did she. Now, this is either true or not true. Rice had the opportunity to correct Boxer if indeed she did have immediate family that would pay the price for the war. Rice did not, nor has she indicated otherwise since the statement was made.

Boxer was making a legitimate, and in my opinion important, point about the classist nature of this war. She and Rice are both people in the government, yet neither of them have close family involved in the war.

You are correct, in my opinion, that the Bush administration doesn't care about the young people they send over to Iraq to fight this war. But please listen carefully when the tape is replayed and you will learn that I am correct.

18. If Condi can't take whatever's dished up, she doesn't deserve
to be in the position. Each and every individual involved in sending troops off to war needs to be willing to send their own flesh into the fight, not just their neighbor's kid. Jenna? Barbara? Yoo hoo.

19. Take that, bitch! I do love feisty Democrats, even if they're not being exactly
politically correct. Isn't it okay for Democrats to lose their cool just a bit? I love it! And the politically CORRECT part is putting this on a personal basis. Whose kids are being slaughtered in Iraq? Whose money is being stolen? Whose country is being destroyed forevermore--in addition to the Iraqis'? Whose Constitution is being ripped to shreds? Whose future is being hocked to give tax cuts to the super-rich? Who is without National Guard protection for emergencies? Who is paying skyrocketing medical costs with their credit cards? Who can't afford food? Who is threatened with homelessness? Who can't find a job? It ain't the "Masters of the Universe" in the Bush Junta!

21. WAIT! Thia is absolute distortion
Senator Boxer was speaking about who was paying the price for the war - she excluded hersekf as her kids were too old and excluded Rice as having no immediate family involved.

This says none of the things the article mentions:
- It doesn't say that it is wrong theat Rice has no kids
or
- That Rice can't (or shouldn't ) be President because whe has no kids.

(At her confirmation hearings, she did say she was no qualified to be SOS, but that was not because she was childless or a woman, but because as national security officer she ignore the OBL will attack in the US memo.
