We are 14 months away from having a nominee for 2008. Here's the schedule
Subject to change, of course...

January 14, 2008 - Iowa

January 19, 2008 - Nevada

January 22, 2008 - New Hampshire
-New Hampshire officials have stated that by state law, the NH Primary must be the first primary in the nation and must precede any similar contest by at least seven days, thus, the state may not abide by DNC approved dates. The DNC has threatened to withhold NH delegates if the state moves the primary earlier than the 22nd.

January 29, 2008 - South Carolina

February 5, 2008 - Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, and Utah

February 12, 2008 - District of Columbia, Tennessee, Virginia

February 19, 2008 - Wisconsin

February 26, 2008 - Hawaii, Idaho, New Jersey

After all these contests, it should be over by then. That's about 60 weeks from now. But just in case the herd is not thinned down to one by Sadie Hawkins Day... the final decision should come on Super Tuesday....

March 4, 2008 - Connecticut, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont
-Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wyoming may also vote on this Tuesday, or on Tuesdays later in March

So, have you picked a candidate yet? Time is short, my fellow Dems. It's time to pick a partner and dance. Otherwise, you're just a voter... and only then if you happen to live on one of the states listed above.

10. Michigan is in flux. Its two party primaries were on separate dates.
The Democrats always went earlier, getting a special waiver from the state and the DNC, with the Republicans sticking to the March default date, although I think they held it early in 2000. Now it looks like a law may be passed to both move up to a February 5 primary by law and change the primaries from "open" (where registered independents can vote in either primary) to "closed" (where only pre-affiliated partisans can vote in the primaries).

But as far as I know, the legislation is still pending.

7. I think I'm going to avoid picking a candidate until at least August of 2007.
Since there's no Howard Dean...:o

I have no idea where this list came from but I promise you it is not accurate.

Edited to add - other than the first four, of course.

9. You don't have to be so pissy about it. But here's some documentation, O doubter of rumors....
:

Alabama: from something called The Green Papers: "Passed 27 April 2006: House HB51 / Senate SB527 moves the Alabama Presidential Primary from the first Tuesday in June to the first Tuesday in February." See also this Decatur Daily news article

Arizona, Utah, New Mexico: from the Unofficial Voice of the Utah Senate (betcha didn't know they had one): "This just in... Utah and New Mexico will pursue a Presidential Preference Primary on February 5th, 2008. Arizona already holds their primary on that day. Other states in the Intermountain West are actively discussing joining the coalition.... New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, a Democrat, joined with Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, a Republican, on Tuesday in calling for a Western regional presidential primary or caucuses on the first Tuesday in February 2008."

Arkansas: In March 2005 Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) signed into law SB235 "An Act Concerning Presidential Preferential Primary Elections" which moves the state's presidential primary from May to the first Tuesday in February. The bill, by Sen. Tracy Steele (D-North Little Rock), easily passed both houses of the General Assembly.

Delaware, Missouri, Oklahoma: Another political site, Race 4 2008, states that for all these states "Based on state statute the Alabama presidential primary will be held on February 5, 2008 for all parties"

It also looks like several bigger states, like New Jersey and Michigan are looking to move up to February 5th. In case you didn't notice, the first line of my OP stated "Subject to change, of course..."

It would help if you read what I wrote rather than just pissing on someone else's parade.

11. I wasn't being pissy
There's no reason to be.

I just don't want people to assume these are accurate. There are very few dates decided yet.
