3. I was wondering the same exact thing as you as I watched that warmonger speak
Obviously, the people of CT didn't elect Lieberman to be Bush's puppet. One would think Lieberman could be removed by the people if he's not fulfilling the wishes of the people who put him where he is.

5. Are you sure?
Seems like Holy Joe was pretty clear about what he was. He got a lot of repuke support from Rove and Repuke Donors. He hired Repukes to help his campaign. He got the vast majority of Repuke votes. And for all of his problems Lamont was very clear on his Iraq war stance.

Maybe the people who voted for him got exactly what they wanted.

7. I am sure, very sure, that the people who voted for him had no idea what they were doing
Joe lied through his teeth during the campaign. He claimed to want the troops to come home too and promised that they would start coming home by the end of 2006. He promised to investigate the Bush administration's disasterous lack of response to Katrina and has now reneged on that and other things that he campaigned on.

Joe's campaign of stressing bipartisanship resonated with people who see politics as a nasty business and he managed to turn the whole idea of "negative campaigning" on its head. HE was the one to attack his opponent on personal matters--Ned's wealth, his wife's job, his country club memberships and on and on ad nauseum. Joe complained that a recitation of his horrible record was "negative campaigning" and people bought it.

Joe won because he was a familiar name with a vast reservoir of good will from his many years of public service, he won by spending great amounts of republican dollars to portray Ned as a dilletant rich guy who was out to buy a senate seat as some sort of a plaything. And he won primarily because people who voted for him were completely out of touch with reality.
