Great Response to the Barbara Boxer Bashers

For a few days now Republicans have been trying to bash Barbara Boxer because of comments she made during a hearing involving Condi Rice. Now there is a great response. Someone actually did state that Condi being single made her a lesser person and limited her ability to hold public office, but is was not Barbara Boxer it was a high profile Republican. Around September of last year Laura Bush was asked if she thought Condi Rice would be a good President. Mrs. Bush responded with this answer:

"Although she would make a good candidate she is not interested. Probably because she is single, her parents are no longer living, she's an only child. You need a very supportive family and supportive friends to have this job," the First Lady said

So according to Mrs. Bush I could not run for president in that I am an only child and happen to be single.

7. Problem with that is that Boxer didn't say what you're defending against

Boxers point was only that Condi, like Boxer herself, had no family in Iraq.

11. Pointed That Out

I pointed that out in my post. I realize Boxer did not say anything about Condi being single or childless. My point is that if the Republicans are going to try to make it about Condi being single and childless lets throw it in their faces and point out that it was one of their own who said that Condi could not hold public office because she was single and childless.

At the time every time I heard that I asked, "just what sacrifice are you making?" I believe this may be behind what Senator Boxer was saying to Rice and it is all too true.

Sorry, your interpretation is off-the-mark. Laura was explaining why Condi herself was not interested in running. That is a far cry from saying someone should not be allowed to run just because he/she is single.

Let's stick to the facts. Laura was saying it would be hard to run without the support of a strong family. She never said that a single person could not or should be allowed to run.

I respect Boxer for being the only Senator to stand up after the 2004 election and insist that Congress be allowed to debate the problems with the election in Ohio.

I didn't read Boxer's novel "A Time To Run". But I think if she was serious about serving as President or VP she would spend her time writing something more serious.
