Lieberman Passes Up Chance To Back Dodd's Presidential Bid
WASHINGTON -- Sen. Joe Lieberman passed up an opportunity Sunday to endorse fellow Connecticut Senator Christopher Dodd's bid for the Democratic nomination for president.

Lieberman, I-Conn., won a fourth term in November as an independent candidate after losing the Democratic nomination to Greenwich businessman Ned Lamont. Dodd backed Lieberman in the primary, but supported Lamont in the general election, even appearing with the Democratic nominee in TV ads.

Asked on "Meet the Press" whether he endorses his Senate colleague's presidential campaign, Lieberman said he's avoiding presidential politics, at least for the time being.

"I've worked closely with Chris Dodd for 18 years," he said. "His experience, his ability makes him a very credible candidate for president. I wish him well. I've had a lot of politics over the last two years. I'm staying out of any presidential campaign for a while."

6. not really, Dodd DID back Lieberman in a Primary which is what this is about
not just the Senate Primary but Presidential Primary in 2004 and gave one of the best speeches in support of Lieberman in 2000.

this just shows how much of a douche Lieberman is. but it's actually something that hsould help Chris Dodd as Primary voters are not fans of Lieberman.

7. Same thought ...
If I were a democratic candidate I would be VERY greatful to NOT have Lieberman's support. That support would be just as helpful as a skid of bricks in a rowboat.

18. Yep, this sounds like "payback" to me!
Altho I haven't noticed much excitement here in CT over Dodd's entry into the race. I'm certainly underwhelmed, but then Chris Dodd has always bored me. I"m glad he's a Dem and I certainly would vote for him over a you know what, but I am not going to support him for president cuz I don't think he's gonna go very far.

19. I would feel a lot safer knowing a wise old owl like Dodd is in WH
who has seen many crisis and wars and has travelled the
world to meet with leaders everywhere. I don't feel
comfortable with Edwards and Obama with very little background
in geo-politics.

20. You make a good point and I thank you.
I don't think Dodd is a bad guy. I await being informed more, actually.

If he is the Dem candidate for president I will support him, of course. We'll see, I guess...

that means in the context of BushCo's disastrous war.

16. I just couldn't believe that Russert, with a straight face, said:
"And today we have two democrats and two republicans with us." Even pumpkin head must know by now that no one, NO ONE, considers Lieberman a democrat anymore.

21. If I was Dodd, I would have said "Warts? No thanks."
Lieberman endorsing anyone would be an embarrassment.
