Mine Where Miners Died Cited 65 Times Last Year - 01/15/07

Two coal miners were killed when part of a tunnel collapsed on them at the Brooks Run Mine in Cucumber, West Virginia over the weekend. Brooks Run was cited 65 times last year by federal safety inspectors.

And they didn't take steps to fix any problem? Believe me, these inspectors take their jobs very seriously, at least the ones I have dealt with. If any miners are reading this, you have a right to point out safety issues at your workplace anonymously by going to www.msha.gov. The complaint form is on the front page. And they will take immediate action. I work in a place which has MSHA inspections at least twice a year so I know whereof I speak. The mine across the street gets inspected at least four times per year as coal mines are supposed to as well.
