Clinton v. Edwards
One of the remarkable things about John Edwards' ascendancy over the last 4 years is that he has yet to be seriously attacked. He was somewhat under the radar for most of '03/'04 and never really experienced what it was like to have negative TV ads run against him. In fact, the last time anyone ran a negative TV against Edwards, he was running for the U.S. Senate in NC in '98. This may explain why Edwards' FAV ratings are through the roof in Iowa now.

Keep the above facts in mind when taking note of Hillary Clinton's camp deciding to engage Edwards by name, following his Sunday NYC speech when he generically attacked all Cong. Dems.

From Clinton aide Howard Wolfson, as quoted in the New York Post: "In 2004, John Edwards used to constantly brag about running a positive campaign. Today, he has unfortunately chosen to open his campaign with political attacks on Democrats who are fighting the Bush administration's Iraq policy."

Let's see if the Edwards folks respond to this response.

1. I made a comment on HL

But it didn't get accepted for approval. They want Edwards' team to respond.

I think Edwards is challenging all Congress folks, but never hurts to remind 2008 contenders to stand for something.

What's so ridiculous is that Hillary's camp made a mountain out of a molehill.

4. 6 years experience
Edwards 6 years of Senate experience is the same as Hillary's experience currently.

George junior was governor for 6 years before running for president.

I think that Edwards has plenty of experience to be President than those 2.

5. So, why is Hillary's "camp" taking this as an attack?
And on her, specificially? I watched the video of John Edwards' speech. He strongly challenged Congress to stand up. Not Hillary, specifically. Why is she taking this personally? He mever said that Congress was doing nothing...he was challenging all members of Congress to come out strongly against this latest madness.

Yes, I know Edwards is running for president, and some of what he said may have been directed at Hillary (as well as Obama, Biden, et all). But what he actually SAID was directed at Congress as a whole. I think this blowback may go against Hillary. She's getting some bad advice.

Were I a Hillary advisor, I'd tell her not to answer directly, but push her own initiatives about what she's doing and saying about the so-called "surge" to the American public. She HAS come out against it, so I'm not sure why she's attacking Edwards at this point.
