14. I don't get it how such a centrist

candidate, who is the frontrunner on top of that, can get that many votes. I like to vote for candidates with strong stands on the issues and who are long shots (at least, when there isn't anything great at stake).

I don't plan to follow any more state primaries on DU. Somehow, Kerry seems to have sewn it up. I voted for Clark, hubby voted for Kucinich, so we're depressed.

FINANCIAL SITUATION: Almost half of the voters in Tennessee said their financial situations are worse now than four years ago, while a third said that in Virginia.

Most of the supporters of Dean, Kucinich, and Clark are among younger voters, but the older voters lean heavily towards Kerry.

In most cases, older people arwe more likley to vote in heavier numbers, and right now voters older than 50 comprise over 65 percent of all of all voters, probably higher.

Older voters are more likely to prefer experience, electability, and how much a cnadidates past record actually matches up to their campaign platform.

The Massachusetts senator ran very strong among those who said the most important quality for a candidate was the ability to defeat Bush — claiming three-fourths of the voters who said that quality was most important. None of his rivals were even close among those voters — about three in 10 of all Virginia voters. Kerry also ran strong among voters who thought experience was the top quality.


"What he says seems to resonate," 24-year-old Kristinia Dlugozima of Falls Church, Va., said in explaining her vote for Kerry. "Beating Bush is very important.


Kerry also drew strong support from Virginia voters who said health care was the top issue — just under one-fifth of all voters.
