Republicans concerned about cutting student loan interest rates
Heard on NPR:

Republicans stated that although cutting student loan interest rates would, in a small way, assist poor students, they expressed concern that such actions would cost the government 6 billion dollars over five years. Oh my god. Praise Jesus for these fiscal conservative members of the party of responsibility. We are all concerned about 6 billion over 60 months; but a billion this week in Iraq, three billion next week to Iraq, what the hell. Their compassion is just truly overwhelming. Maybe republicans can propose shutting down VA hospitals to make up for that 6 billion.

1. Thought they were against taxes, and for education
I guess that they are against cutting an "education tax" on those who have to borrow money, instead of the legacies and the kids who never have to worry about if they can roll enough pennies to afford the dollar menu from Wendy's ...

3. Another ignorant pug. If you want to help the poor you change
the PEL grants. If you want to help the middle class then you lower the interest rates. They are so far out of the loop that they do not even know how hard it is for the middle class to send their children to school. But the worst is that they do not know that education is the best investment we make into America.

If they aren't vigilant 24/7, someone might actually have some good done for them in this country.

11. Hope they cut
them. My son starts grads HS this year and we're looking at about a 35,000 loan to get through college. Be nice if the interest rate wasn't so high.

13. Oh, please, oh please
>such actions would cost the government 6 billion dollars over five years<

It's time for the Democratic leadership to bring Ben Cohen to the floor of both the Senate and the House to show his Oreo cookie demonstration. He stacks Oreos for every billion spent on education in the United States. Pretty small stack, it seems. He then stacks cookies next to the original one for every billion spent on defense and the war. You can imagine that stack's much bigger.

Let's show the Republicans for what they are. If we ever had the bully pulpit, now is time to use that pulpit. The Republicans are attempting to make sure that education is priced out reach for the many, and guaranteed for just a few.
