1. She said he reminds her of Reagan in that people just like him. Reagan

was also called unqualified but he won because people liked him. That was what she said. She wasn't talking policy.

Honest! It's just that I saw absolutely nothing likeable and positive about Reagan. Perhaps it's because he became governor just after a truly outstanding Democrat, Pat Brown.

meant it to be a positive. Obama, like Reagan, is charismatic and usually has some positive and hopeful spin to say about extremely dire situations.

8. Like Reagan, Obama has that "likable" factor

People that did not agree with Reagan, still liked him, and liked him enough to elect him President twice.

Like Reagan, Obama has that likable factor. On the other hand, a certain candidate from New York has very high "dislikable" numbers, particularly among voters that call themselves independent.

That's my recollection on the discussion I saw on TV today.

Even many Democrats liked him in 2000, before we got to know him better. But all the polls said most people liked him very much. Most of the votes he got in both 2000 and 2004 were because people liked him more than they did Gore or Kerry.

I think it's way too early to tell how voters will respond to any of the potential 08 candidates. But you'd think after 8 years of likable, they'd be a little more interested in competent.

This country is soooo "effed" right now. Don't just look at the war, look at all the outsourcing, look at the technological emergence of India and China, Russia is arming all of our adversaries just for sh1ts and giggles, our dollar is officially worth toilet paper, and China is bankrolling our debt. We have some serious problems that are being left to fester.

So you say "likeability"....who cares about likeability, it's not like we're going to party with the President.
