Do we not want/need a President and VP to compliment each other on top level issues?
IMO, the 2 macro level issues are:

1) Foreign policy, and
2) Domestic issues

If you agree, then all these pairings I see on DU are crazy.

Obama and Hillary is not good, neither one is strong on foreign policy
Richardson and Clark is not good, both strong on foreign policy
Edwards Obama is not good at all, both lack foreign policy
Vilsack and Hillary is not good
...etc.

IMHO:

1) Hillary Clark is a good mix
2) Edwards Clark
3) Obama Clark
4) Vilsack Kerry
5) Biden Hillary
6) Richardson Vilsack
...etc.

Please discuss, thanks.

1. Clark/Obama - Obama/Clark would be awesome.
But Clark/Gore - Gore/Clark is even better, but sadly it doesn't look like Gore is running.

2. Clark/Obama, Clark/Edwards are tickets I especially like.
I'm not at all excited by any ticket that includes Hillary, Biden, or Vilsack.

3. Until Dumbass the VP was a ceremonial position
and should return to being so as soon as possible.

Gore and anyone else you like works for me.

4. I think they should definitely compliment each other often.
"Nice tie, Al."
"Thank you, Russ. That's a fetching blazer you're wearing."

5. What about Obama/Richardson or Richardson/Obama?

On edit: I would say there's actually three macro issues: foreign, domestic and economic.

10. How are we defining strong/weak on foreign policy?
Obama doesn't have any foreign policy experience, but I would argue he's strong because he has vociferously opposed the war from the beginning.

Also, I'm not sure too many voters look at issues on a macro level. In my experience voters are either deeply into politics, the type with careful and nuanced considerations on issues, or they are relatively superficial, party-line voters. Anyone who would apply such a simplistic strong/weak foreign/domestic duality system when he chooses which ticket to vote for probably wouldn't even care about those issues.

12. Gore/Anybody would be OK
Gore can cover all the bases. :toast: I'm hoping he runs. If he doesn't I suspect my mourning period to last throughout the primaries.
