Edited on Wed Jan-17-07 07:34 PM by KoKo01
As a female I understand that Hillary after suffering "sling & arrows" from the Repugs has managed to "hold her own" and COME BACK SLINGING!

She's a Wellsley Grad and a great Champion of Rights for Women...and whatever Bill did shouldn't reflect on her OWN AMBITIONS and CREDENTIALs to be the FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT!

But, what Get's me is that Hillary is really RUNNING ON BILL and folks in America now look back on the Criminality and War Profiteering of the Bush II "Selected P-Residency" as so bad they LONG FOR the CLINTON Triangulation/DLC/NAFTA/MEDIA DEREGULATION/MONICA-CIGAR..YEARS!

Do we REALLY WANT BILL CLINTON in the White House again ...even if his WIFE is not BILL?

How can we separate the TWO? HOW?

Hillary supporters please come onboard and answer!

4. Having Bill Clinton back in the WH with Hillary is the best thing we could do
for our country.

Whether she is siting as VP or the #1 position doesn't matter one bit.

If only Gore would throw his hat in or accept a draft as Prez.
Then we would have the perfect combination to put our world back together again
before it's too late for all of us.

2. If she's the most liberal candidate we could get, I'd vote for her (or Bill!) in a heartbeat
I'd prefer a more liberal candidate, but I am not opposed to her, and I thought Bill was a pretty great president with some exceptions. (And I'll certainly vote for whomever wins the nomination.)

3. Well...
I would vote for Clinton, that's for sure. Although, I think a Clinton campaign would be a similar and yet opposite to W's campaign. Basically, we would have a strong, polarizing candidate that will attract "good and decent" people while there would develop an entire Clinton-hating sub-culture filled with your racist ball players and uncle-toms, punk ass bitch white rich kids and country stars and the "blue collar crowd"....with Clinton ascending in a "legal but questionable" way. 2008-2012 would be marked by constant "sedition" against the president by those who now defend him.

7. No ! No! No!
Why?

Let me tell you about a discussion I had with a daughter of mine - age 19. In 2004, in explaining why I was so much more intense in supporting Kerry, I said that that happened because as I read about him, I found more and more to admire and like. He was that rare man, who was a genuine public servant who had integrity and did not allow himself to become corrupt. In Teresa and John Kerry, there were people who I agreed with on most positions and who I could see as very good people.

Her response was that she had always felt confused about what I felt about the morality of public people. She saw that I defended Clinton for things she knew I would condemn in a Republican. It was not just sex - of the highest man in the (company) with one of the lowest - an action I would argue against at work, but illegal finacing, cattle futures etc

We need warriors to undo the damage the Bush Administration has done to the

John Kerry is a loner. This is not a War that one person can Wage and Win.
We need a TEAM of Players. Players adept at getting the job done. People who can hit the ground running.

Sorry, I like him too. I worked for him last time around and cast my vote for him.
I did all I could possibly do to ensure him winning.

39. You miss the point - I was simply explaining the context of the story
The question was not whether Kerry should run, but do you want Bill back.

My problem is that I do not want to just vote for my "team". I think that they are relatively coorupt and are not guided by principles. I think Hillary was when she came to the White House.

Bill Clinton is an extremely gifted chariamatic person - but he lies far too easily and convincingly. Is extremely disloyal to people who trust him. Is willing to be unethical if it gives him an edge. Frankly, I would rather not.

I also do not think that Clinton's wins were all that amazing. Others could win. If not Kerry - than Dodd or Obama might be better than all the baggage that came with Bill. This is from a mom of 3 girls who were 8 to 11 when the entire world learned about oral sex. No, I do not forgive him for lying under oath - making that a story for over a year.

2008 should be an easy year for the Democrats as the country is sick of the Republicans. 2004 was not - and Kerry got wless than full support from his party. Are you disturbed by the fact that not only did some Clinton people complained to the press incessantly before the election.

Kerry nearly won against a President hovering around 50% approval - Clinton had a moderately close win against a President below 40%. Kerry and everyone in the party protected Clinton. They didn't protect Kerry.

Amazing you can not find the relevance to your post in mine. My first two words are, *I agree*, with what you said. But Morality is not on the table and moral issues are not a point open for discussion. John Kerry had or has I don't know which, because I'm not privy to his private life, quite a reputation with the ladies... he isn't a monk, you know. I thought you knew that. Morality is a nuanced Republican wedge issue used to coverup serious problems within our country. Like Poverty, Racism, Health Care, an Illegal War, Troop Mortality, Abrogation of Constitutional Rights, Womens Rights, the Elderly, Pollution, Global Warming..etc.

Your response: #39

"Kerry nearly won against a President hovering around 50% approval - Clinton had a moderately close win against a President below 40%. Kerry and everyone in the party protected Clinton. They didn't protect Kerry."

I don't understand your response. Kerry did win. The Republicans stole the election from him. After all is said and done, he was solely responsible for ensuring the count in Ohio was accurate. All he had to do was go there himself. He chose to stay home and concede the election. I'm sure he regrets his decision to this day. If it were me, I would have been all over those election officials from the moment I knew there was a going to be a problem.

But as usual, there is no amount of explaining I could do that would satisfy what to most people is pretty simple.
We need fighters in this race and Kerry just doesn't qualify as such.

The detractors seeking dogmatic perfection to satisfy their core values,

Interaction with them is much like telling a dog about string theory.

But I think she's more an MSM creation than her desire to be President. Yes, I'd vote for him again, but not as "First Lady" :D

I feel for her and Obama right now because they are sitting Senators in Bush's Fugly World, so I'm protective of all our Dem field right now. I want us all to relax a bit and spend more time looking at the good things about our Dems, instead of feeding the RW newsbytes and blogs with more fuel.

For all we know, Hillary might have been one of the major driving forces behind Bill being the successful president he was. Despite his peccadilloes and understanding that you cannot please all the people all the time, eight years of peace and prosperity are Bill Clinton*s legacy. However, both he and Hillary get a raw deal here at DU at the hands of some and the atmosphere here will become toxic if Hillary ends up getting the nod. Forewarned is fair-warned.

I'd vote for either Clinton.

I don't think that I'll be voting for Hilary in the primary because of (1) her position on Iraq and my fears of what her position might be on Iran, and (2) her inability to win in the general election, at least IMHO.

I wouldn't vote for Bill in the primary, either. NAFTA, MFN for China, Robert Rubin and Bill's seeming need to please everyone don't conjure up fond memories.

44. Certainly I'd vote for Bill Clinton again. Or Hillary, or anyone else the Democratic party
nominates, just as I've done in every presidential election since my first in 1972. Senator Clinton is running on her record and her experience, not focusing on her husband, but neither is she ignoring him. I find her record largely uninspiring and her personal skills somewhat lacking so she's not my personal choice but-should she win the nomination-she will have my support...

47. Hillary is not Bill, anymore than Bush 43 is Bush 41
Many people voted for Bush 43 partly out of "Clinton fatigue," but also because they had this mistaken notion that Junior was a younger version of Bush the Elder. Boy, were they wrong!

People should vote, or not vote, for Hillary based solely upon Hillary and not because of Bill. She is not Bill, and this is neither good nor bad.

Hillary is her own woman, love her or hate her, and she shouldn't be judge based on her spouse.
