Imus: out of the three Edwards is the only one who could get elected President
Edited on Thu Jan-18-07 12:20 PM by bigdarryl
this was said by the crazy man this morning. but he my have a point, he said he doesn't think the country is ready for a woman or a black for President.Even though he thinks Obama is very impressive. He Especially is looking back what happened to his friend Harold Ford. he thinks Ford wasn't elected because Tenn.is still racist

1. The important part

"he said he doesn't think" Imus should have stopped right there.

Cheers

10. Sounds Like He is Thinking To Me ....
I say this to my wife who is an ardent Hillary person.
Which Red State is going to flip and vote Hillary over some McCain-ish rendition of "the kindler gentler machine gun hand"?
Hmm ... Will it be Missisippi? Texas?
Edwards is by far the most electable of the three (Obama-Hillary-Edwards). IMO...

14. Well...

...maybe in your neck of the woods, but Obama is definitely electable here in Illinois.

I wouldn't count Hillary out either.

I would guess that Imus has absolutely no idea how the people of Illinois would vote.

Cheers :toast:

2. What pisses me off about people saying "The country isn't ready for
a woman or a black president" is that it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

At the very least, more women and blacks should run since it's past time for the country to GET ready.

3. What keeps that old coot on the air?

It's a mystery to me why such a bitter, mean spirited man could continue with that AM show on MSNBC. Especially when one of his side-kicks (Bernard) is even more crass and his comments sometimes borders on racism.

I have to look into Dodd more closely since he announced on Imus his run for the Presidency. IMO anyone who would call this insincere man (save for the good of his ranch for Children suffering with cancer - that his trophy bride rules over) "a friend" can NOT be totally above board, i.e., an opportunist. :(

6. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day
and the rhetoric of "the two Americas" will resonate with a whole lot of people for whom "business as usual" was simply not enough in the past two presidential elections.

DLC handlers will probably fuck this one up, too, even if Edwards gets the nod. That sort of talking might annoy bankers and brokers.

Oh well.

7. I don't know about the country
but it's plain that Anus isn't ready for a woman or a black president. As for Ford, TN may still be a bit racist (as are many states) but he lost in large part because he was a mediocre candidate.

8. Has Imus fallen off the wagon again?
He was a big time abuser of illegal substances in the past.

9. Poll: 92% of Americans would vote for a woman for president
Ninety-two percent of adults now say they would vote for a woman for president from their political party if she were qualified for the job.

Imus is talking out of his ass.

12. So they say, until they get into the "both" to vote.
Or, they decide they don't like the woman running.

16. And who does Imus think the GOP is going to put up?
I mean, sheesh! Talk about a mediocre field! I don't see any of the likely Republican candidates mounting a serious campaign. 2008 is looking a great deal like 1996, and the Republicans will nominate whoever's "turn" it is, which makes me think it will be McCain. And McCain is ripe for the munching.
