Will Rogers -- "I don't belong to an organized political party -- I'm a Democrat"
Watching network news last night I saw a whole long story supposedly about Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton being aware of each other's positions and trying to outmanuever each other, and all I could think was "Here we go again." The Democratic "circular firing squad" with mainstream media national news loves, because the stories are easy. And the democratic candidates play right into it.

Here in California the Schvartenegger campaign used it to perfection by running ads quoting things Democratic Challenger Steve Westley had said about Democratic candidate Angelides with the line "What if what he says is true?"

I know it's an impossible dream to have the Democratic Party line up behind someone before all the primaries, and I think that it probably won't matter who the Democratic Candidate is this year -- even someone as pessimistic as I am doesn't think the Republicans have much chance to recover their fumbles by '08. But I wish the circular firing squad could be avoided.
