13. Mark414, I love your woody guthrie pic
I am a woody admirer also.

Like him, I loved the grapes of wrath and his book "Bound for Glory"

that said, we got to back the democratic nominee. Period.

we didnt get to this sorrowful juncture in our history in 4 or even 8 years. it began
in 1980 when a delusional movie actor who believed his own lines,
persuaded gullible romantic americans that the far right was actually the mainstream.

we got to get back to sanity one baby step at time.

The country is too big, and the power too diffuse for a revolution.

51. Then the Clintons helped.

"it began in 1980 when a delusional movie actor who believed his own lines, persuaded gullible romantic americans that the far right was actually the mainstream."

Then Clinton agreed. Instead of attempting to swing the pendulum back from the Right as everyone voting for Bill thought he would, Clinton governed from the old Right calling it the new Center. This put the Democratic stamp of approval on the old Far Right as the new mainstream Right. For every time you heard either Clinton bash extremists on the Right, you heard them bash extremists on the Left a dozen times.

9. Good point!
I can't vote for Hillary for the same reasons as Edward!

I agree that it's up to people in a democracy whom to vote for. If I were American, I would vote for any likely Dem in the forthcoming election. I would recommend that, for the sake of the world, people vote Dem against any likely Rep. I would recommend it very strongly!!! Please
please hold your noses and vote D, is my recommendation and probably that of most non-Americans who feel that the world's safety depends on a complete Bush-ectomy.

On the other hand, the 'Labour' party in my own country have long ago exceeded my own limits and pushed me down the third-party route, so it would be totally hypocritical for me to blame others who make such decisions. Hillary Clinton, against any likely Republican, would not cause me to make such a decision. However, if (say, a generation ago) George Wallace had been running against a liberal or moderate Republican, it would probably not have been a good idea to just vote for the Dem. So I wouldn't blame people for not choosing to vote Dem in all circumstances.

7. anybody who wont support the eventual nominee is an idiot-or a repub
So of course I'll vote for her.

I prefer Edwards, Clark or Gore.

I really dont think Hilary can win the general election.
neither can Barack Hussein Obama-and most certainly not John Kerry.

I hate to say this, but I dont think any woman can win with
all this BS "war" on terror hysteria
driving so many idiots-and yes we are a land of idiots.

I may vote for Hillary if she wins the nomination, but I won't vote for Edwards. My conscious won't allow it.

But, it wouldn't matter in my state, anyway. He won't win it with or without my vote.

10. Heck, I Actually Admired Hillary
before she voted for to give a chimp the power to invade a country at his own discretion. That said, I'd still vote for her over any Repuke I have heard about running. And I could never waste my vote on a third party candidate that wasn't viable. Guess Hillary would get my vote if she is the Dem candidate but I sure wish I could cast the vote for someone I still admired.

That said, there are plenty of reasons to detest Hillary.

I've not seen anyone say they won't vote for Clinton if she wins the nomination. I HAVE seen people say they hope she isn't the nominee, or that if she's nominated we'll lose.

those are opinions you can agree with or disagree with, but to blatantly and intentionally mischaracterize them, like this, AGAIN, is a favorite ploy of some people here to divide this board.

53. I voted for a 3rd party candidate once for prez and I'll never do it again.
I voted for John Anderson back in the 80s. I was very stupid; I guess I was just a bit piqued at Carter or whatever. A few years later I happened by chance to actaully meet Anderson. What a cold fish! I smiled and told him I had voted for him. He gave me the sourest look, as if to say "I should care?"

Idon't know what motivated Anderson at the time he ran but I found his message attractive. Afterwards I felt as if my vote had been wasted and I had been foolish. I still feel that way.

Right now, I want Clark. But if we end up with Hillary I will vote for her and work for her election. I simply don'thate her.

Until the party moves past this tendency, we will never fully be trusted. We need to reinvent the party as a post-Clintonian force.
