3. there is no issue more important than this one

first, allow me to add another dodge ball player to your list ... go to this website: http://www.cspan.org/ and click on the link that reads: "Rep. Pelosi (D-CA) & Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) Preview the State of the Union Address"

when the video finishes loading, advance your player to the 30:30 (minutes and seconds) mark of the press conference ... you will hear the question asked very clearly based on the article that appeared in the Guardian (see the third link below) ... and you will watch and hear our very own Harry Reid give a lengthy explanation about how we have to reduce our dependence on foreign oil ... he's right of course ... what you won't hear, however, is an answer to the question that was asked: do we have a right to steal Iraqi oil?

it is very, very disturbing to see Democrats, leading Democrats, marching in lockstep with Big Oil ...

want to read more on this issue? check out my DU journal page: http://journals.democraticunderground.com/welshTerrier2

many of the threads i've added to my journal focus on this topic ...

some of the recent ones include:
Making America safer?
This is modern-day slavery
Iraqis will never accept this sellout to the oil corporations
Why is Iraq's "Oil Law" being discussed in a "closed session" of the US Senate
The signing away of Iraqi oil
87% of Iraq's oil will go to 4 multi-national oil companies
The day the pumps run dry

i call this THE most important issue because either We the People control our government or those we elect to represent us are, in reality, doing the bidding of private commercial enterprises ... if our power as citizens is ultimately illusory, our "democracy" is gone ... to see Democrats, i.e. the party of the people, behaving in this scandalous manner is devastating ...

tomorrow, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (C-Span?) is supposed to hold hearings on our oil dependency. it will be interesting to see if Iraq's "Oil Law", deceptively renamed to the "Hydrocarbon Law", will even be discussed ... don't count on it!!

thanks for posting this critically important topic ... let's make damned sure we hold ALL CANDIDATES accountable on this issue ... if they duck it as those in the videos have done, let's make them sorry they did ... the American people want their values represented in how we deal with citizens of other countries; stealing oil after occupying a country is not what we are all about ...

k&r !!!
