1. what can we do to prop him up? He has
too many vulnerablities to win in 2008. I want us to be able to run against him.

2. I feel quite the opposite
Too many people who know hardly anything about politics like him and think hes a centrist.

7. I dont think he can hold up to real challenge. I worry
about Romney who people will perceive as a fresh face.

You are right about the media trying to push for him. They are pushing hard for a Hillary Clinton-John McCain race---in the same way they would push for a NY Yankees, LA Dodgers World Series. McCain knows all the pundits like they were best friends.

I still think he has peaked and can fade, but admittedly that is my own jaded perspective.

11. step back further from the political bubble
The folks I speak of dont know Romney exists.

I'm talking from personal experience of at least 2 completely ignorant people liking McCain because hes a maverick or centrist or whatever. And these are folks who hate Bush.

12. I know. I understand your point.

My perspective is that Romney emerges as a fresh face to most -- and people will willingly not associate him with their nasty feelings about Bush. I'd love to be proven wrong.

3. Morose McCain is aware that all his Bush and Falwell ass kissing was for nothing.
The presidency has slipped from his grasp.

8. That's the way I see it.
He lost some of his best friends because of his cravenness in the past elections.

Who will he turn to now? Unity Party, will be my guess. McCain and Lieberman.

9. Maybe McCain will be VP if Cheney goes?
He's not going to make it through the primaries anyway.
