5. Thanks Radio Lady, I meant a political PTSD. A kind of lingering
state of distress after the fact. :-)

6. That is certainly what we are feeling. I hope this country begins to
clear its name and image -- a lot is happening already. I'm somewhat optimistic that the Democrats are gaining the necessary momentum to get a handle on what needs to be done. I try to be patient when I'm not angry or sad.

Thanks for your post.

7. Maybe we will be able to credit "the way forward" to some of the current politicians.
Our country is depending on it.

10. Pretty much ceased to be revolutionary when Wahington put down
the Whickey Rebellion in 1794. Aaron Burr should have shot Hamilton 20 years earlier.

wilfully and relentlessly insubordinate employee. There's only one thing I know of to do in a business, with a wilfully and relentlessly insubordinate employee - who does not follow orders or rules, bankrupts the company, endangers its position in the marketplace, threatens its security and legal standing - AND the wellbeing of its stockholders. That employee gets SHIT-CANNED!!!

IMPEACHMENT!!! Now, more than EVER!!! IMPEACHMENT - AND REMOVAL FROM OFFICE!!!

Before he gets us all killed!!!

I'm going to lunch with an author and his wife today.

Not eating at Olive Garden! We're going to Carmine's -- where they presumably have better Italian food. Do you cook?

Warm regards,

There are Iranian "war games" ongoing today and tomorrow.

It makes me wish to ask whatever God(s) there may be: "Why hast Thou forsaken us?"

Edited on Fri Feb-02-07 02:14 PM by welshTerrier2
what's happening to this country is indeed horrible.

i believe the problem is primarily caused by a massive failure of our political process. simply put, we choose poor leaders.

too many who gain power do so merely because of their incumbency. or their money. or their name recognition. or their political connections. or their good looks. or their great joke at a debate. or their opponents one really bad gaffe. or their great campaign commercials. or whatever.

it's not that we never elect good people. we sometimes do. but overall, we, as voters, are often badly out of touch with our own history and with the information we need to make good choices. we form opinions based on whether someone is "wooden" or we choose tall candidates over short ones or we elect people we think would be "fun to have a beer with". sadly, we deserve what we get.

what's happening to this country is truly very sad; but shocking? not at all ... until we stop playing our little political games and start addressing the real issues, nothing will change.

17. Thanks for your comments, welshTerrier2. BTW, are you an owner or breeder of these dogs?
I used to raise and train Boston Terriers, the little American Gentlemen dogs.

and now that the five kids are married and the last dog has passed on, I don't want to take on any more pets. Periodically, my husband asks me if we can have another dog. My response is, "Sure, you can get one -- when I'm dead!" We have an eight year old home with beige carpeting and white tile -- it just wouldn't lend itself to housebreaking a puppy.

I watch the Westminster Dog Show every year, and also the Eukanuba shows. I was very active in obedience training while I was in my teen years. Actually, we won a CD degree (Companion Dog) with my Boston Terrier, "Dolly" AKC name: Duchess of Dade (the South Florida county where I lived). I bred my bitch to Ch. Regardless, a pillar of the breed, who was about 14 years old at the time. (Funny bit: We had to lift him on and off, but he did have the idea!) That breeding resulted in seven male puppies, free whelped, instead of requiring a Caesarian section as was usual in that breed -- a record that landed us in a Boston Terrier book. "Dolly" was put down at age 12 after several bouts with breast cancer. She was a sweetheart!

I do have a photo of my fantasy dog. Here he is:
