Courteous is fine, but they seem to be applauding so much. I am not listening or watching, just peeking at the TV now and then to see if Webb is speaking yet.

Everytime I look I see them clapping. With no sound on and looking from the other room now and then, it looks like they are approving his message.

I would think the world would expect better of our newly elected congress than that.

But then I am only getting glimpses.

3. "Hey. That country accords its head of state the dignity the position implies."
"Just like it always has, and like any country does."

The Republican Congress applauded and cheered Clinton, too. The president is a guest of Congress and is accorded courtesy. This isn't Question Time in the British Parliament.

7. In this case...
I think the anger of the world has gone beyond that. I don't see being rude, but the many bursts of applause would appear to indicate approval.

4. I just un-muted the t.v....
Olbermann said it was "not too bad, but not too good"

CNN said "The Democrats seemed to applaude the most when he was talking about Immigration"

And the DU'ers over at General Discussion are royally pissed at Speaker Pelosi for applauding at all.

5. When he said something complimentary of troops, for instance,
dems would be pretty heartless not to applaud. The homage from dems was usually in acknowledgement of their own issues or some non-specific rhetoric.
