It's ironic. This was the first SOTU G.W.B. delivered not written by his long-time speechwriter, who I heard on NBC left this past summer.

And when Webb was given a speech written by the Democratic Party, he reportedly (again, according to NBC) tore it up and wrote his own.

Webb was superb, and all of America saw tonight the difference between real patriotism and phony chickenhawking.

3. Geez...Webb is a best selling writer, why would Dem leaders give him a speech
written by anyone else? Gee - they should start TRUSTING the real talents among them and support them instead of trying to control them.

5. This was vintage Jim Webb
He wrote this speech himself. After listening to his words for 9 months, I recognized several phrases used on the campaign trail. I know what he sounds like, and these were his words. I am proud to call this man my Senator!

8. Proud to be a Democrat in Virginia tonight!
Jim Webb kicked ass tonight! I am giddy with anticipation of walking in DC Saturday, shoulder to shoulder, with others who want to "SHOW HIM THE WAY"!
