Webb's last line...Brilliant.
Edited on Tue Jan-23-07 10:52 PM by UCLA Dem
Simply brilliant.

If the president is willing to work with us, great, but...

"If he does not, we will be showing him the way."

One of the best last lines EVER!!

1. and that ever-so-slight smile at the corner of his mouth when he said it
Edited on Tue Jan-23-07 10:57 PM by Donnachaidh
You can just hear the voice in his head adding -- "we'll enjoy dragging this chickenhawk kicking and screaming to the diplomatic sessions"

Go Webb Go!

2. I totally agree.....
It was the right tone, the right message, at the right time. My spirits were lifted, this is the intensity that is needed now.

The talking heads on PBS (Brooks and Shields) both raved about it too.

4. I must admit...
...having listened to one of Webb's debates in his Senatorial contest when he was uncomfortable, I was worried when I heard that he was gonna do the response tonite. My fears were obviously unfounded. WOW!

6. And the look on his face...I swear his eyes were twinkling....
It said "I can kick your ass" and "I've got your number" and "take this you little shit" all in one look.

with that man watching my every move. He is very smart and very angry about the imcompetence and lies.

29. Dam right !!
Violence, threats of violence, overwhelming force, superior firepower.

Unfortunately - this is the only language the Chimp understands.

Jim Webb was absolutely the right person to answer the SOTU.

8. Webb has talked the talk. Now it's time for Democrats to walk the walk
and back him up all the way to the bank.

If that line doesn't set the tone for all Democrats to stand in unity, nothing will.

18. I love it so much, it's my new sig line.
That was the high point of his entire speech, sort of like the superduper mother-of-all fireworks display at the end of a Fourth of July fireworks show.

I've had a Daniel Webster quotation as my sig line for a year, and Webb is every bit as great a statesman as Daniel Webster was.

:patriot:

20. Loved his mention of New Orleans/Katrina
now can anyone tell me how * got up enough cajones to even claim the budget will be balanced w/o a tax increase with a simultaneous "surge" and permanent presence in Iraq ? Praytell the R's have lost all sense of fiscal sanity; they've already lost diplomatic sanity long ago...

21. And the way he said "God bless America" at the very end
almost with a quizzical, ironic tone; it didn't have that cheerleader lilt at the end like the mindless jingoistic way Shrub says it. :patriot:

26. In other words: Lead, follow, or get out of the way.
And bu$h the Alpha male has always been the unquestioned leader.

So here comes another Alpha getting in his face. And he won't run away, either. Not when his son is in harm's way.

This should be interesting.
