Dear PNHP Colleagues and Friends,
Breaking news!
Physicians for a National Health Program is participating in a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, DC tomorrow (Wednesday, January 24) to respond to several new health proposals - including Bush's - that are deeply flawed, and to promote the real solution - single payer national health insurance. We are delighted that Dr. Oliver Fein, Chair of the NY-Metro chapter of PNHP, will represent PNHP before the national media.
The press release follows in this message. Activists are encouraged to forward it to their local newspaper or other media (including internet and alternative media).
We need to keep the media informed - at every opportunity - that single payer national health insurance is the best option for health care reform. They are increasingly getting the message: Some recent press coverage includes the Houston Chronicle, USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, the Sacramento Bee, and, notably, the Portsmouth, New Hampshire Herald (featuring PNHP'er Dr. Thomas Clairmont, who participated in PNHP Leadership Training last year). With the important role of NH in presidential politics, we thought you'd enjoy this story, reprinted below.
By now you should have received our "Activist Newsletter" in the mail with additional ideas about ways you can become active. Thanks in advance for your help with press outreach. Every physician that adds their voice to this cause is a tremendous help.
Cordially,
Quentin Young, MD
