Edited on Wed Jan-24-07 12:42 PM by Auntie Bush
Of course I LOVE the General...but I can (at the risk of forever being flamed) finally, although belatedly, admit that I think our country would be in good safe hands in the hands of the ClintonS. I only say this...should the good General not choose to run. I think a Clinton/ Clark ticket would be pretty good...however, I'm concerned that Clinton on the ticket would cause us to lose a few red states. However, I would hope that the Independent people could overlook that because of their support, admiration and confidence in the General. Of course, I wish the ticket could be Clark/Clinton, but if Hillary wins the primary...I'd be happy to support her with Wes on the ticket. SHOOT! but I hope your aim is as bad as Cheney's.

I like Hillary. I would vote for Hillary.....But she is the WORST choice. I will do all I can to keep her OFF the ticket.

She is a war-accommidator.

She is a fence-straddler.

She as chosen a position AS CLOSE TO LIEBERMAN'S AS SHE THINKS SHE CAN GET AWAY WITH.

She has only adopted positions opposing the Bush/Cheney regime when she has been forced, by overwhelming opinion among the base of the Democratic Party.

She lags behind even ethe overwhelming opinion of the American people.

When it comes to having the courage to directly take on the vital issues of our time, she is NOT A STATESMAN.

The issue is NOT whether we LIKE Hillary, or whether we WOULD VOTE for Hillary against an even worse GOP warmonger.

The issue is: Who will unapologetically champion American values against an out-of-control, warmongering, "unitary executive" GOP?

10. the jury is still out
Hillary is tough, she's focused, she's ruthless, she's smart, and she's experienced. Do I trust her? Not as far as I can throw her.

On the other hand, Bush seemed "trustworthy" and he's a deceitful idiot.

Unfortunately, by the time they're voted in it's too late to find out you misjudged someone. Just ask all the Bush voters!

Let's put it this way: Hillary or Bush? Hillary. Hillary or Obama? I'd take Obama.

So yep, assuming Richardson won't be able to overcome the name recognition and fundraising edge both Obama and HRC have, she'd be next up on my list (although Bayh or Warner could possibly have been had they remained or become alternatives)

24. I like Hillary..
However, I have this to say about her being President at this time.
I was Director of Education, for a ME company in the late 80's early 90's. I was in the Beauty Industry, educating suppliers for a product for skin of color. ALL colors!! The company I worked for was from Pakistan. They were also an import-export company for American goods.
Understanding the Culture of ME was a long learning process. I was not allowed in any of the meetings, of the heads of the depts. Only men! This means, that the culture to listen, be advised or idea's put forth of women, is very difficult and not respected. Its their Culture!!! American People, in the most part, do not realize this is an issue of great importance. I quit 8 times, and they would bring me back...with more promises. Then it would not happen. No matter how much they respected my ability and people power, it wasn't enough to consider me an equal! Yet they wanted me on board as I was a great spokesman for the company and knew how to get to the people.
I don't think Hillary is the person, who would have the power to make changes needed diplomatically, to change the minds and convictions of the Arabs/Muslims to construct a peace agreement. WOMEN, is still a second class specie, in Muslim culture. No matter how smart, how well known, how intelligent, or how effective. Its just the way it is!!!
That is why we are Americans, who except people for their knowledge, intelligence, and values and not their sex!
I think we need a Leader, who knows the ropes in the ME, has the contacts and respects the different cultural difference. Their aren't many...as we see what the WH is doing now. I support Wes Clark for his knowledge and experience of realizing this factor.

I have often wondered if Condi and Albright have been hampered by the fact they are women.

But, if Clark is not our candidate...who would you support or recommend?

Just out of curiosity...since you should know...do MEerner's respect blacks? ie Would they respect Obama?

He is a male, also his experience in the ME as a child would be helpful. I think his heritage, plays an important role also.
I know Hillary would be a good President too...its not about that. Its WHO is the BEST to get us out of this MESS, that BushCo has got us into. We are really going to have to listen. We are in a crisis!!!
My experience, told me, NO MATTER HOW important I was to the Company, the fact that I was female hampered my IDEA's getting across, and was silenced. It is the CULTURE!!

72. Of Course Not...
I like her too. I was just pointing out what and how different cultures make decisions. Also, the fact that it MAY be more difficult, for her to be heard. Believe me, I probably offended their culture many times, as I had a long learning curve. I took it personally, which was not the case. The ME people have a lower status of women in their country, and it does carry over. That is why CONDI is having no luck with them. She does not understand...its one fact...women.

At this time we need to get our troops home. We need to end this war...We need every chance we have since this cabal has messed it up so bad...
If Hillary gets the nomination...I will definatly support her. I like her...

...however, I think it still sets women back to suggest they're handicapped by their gender, because other nations may not deal with them fairly. I get that's not your intent, obviously, since you say you'll support her if she gets the nomination. And the ME is going to be an issue for decades to come...

On another note, I don't consider Condi to be a woman...she's a snake!

Besides the author's premise is bunk.

1st, Clinton had all of two years with a Dem Congress.

2nd, his 1st priority was the continued assisting of America's economy recovering from the Bush recession by implementing his domestic plan.

3rd, what is the supeona power of the President?

Remind me again how people's opinions changed following the Iran Contra hearings.

Oliver North almost got elected for crissakes.

77. CIA drugrunning story in 1996 on Clinton's watch. His WH downplayed
the story and denied its significance while targetting the Pulitzer Prize winning reporter for a takedown. Gary Webb's story was proved to be accurate a couple years later as CIA documents that were finally turned over confirmed his reporting - however, the truth was buried in the back pages of all those papers who condemned his report at the time.

82. No. The CIA drugrunning story that had Contra cocaine dealers being protected
by CIA figures also involved with IranContra. They were dumping cheap cocaine in black communities all over the country.

Maybe the fact that you are unaware of this story is one of the reasons you can't understand why Truth Matters and how devastating it is for this country when it gets covered up for reasons of secrecy and privilege.

BET documentary American Gangster can fill you in. Or research Gary Webb. He was the reporter taken down.

120. You shoul stop using 1 author's slanted viewpoint to ruin the good name of the Clintons
If you could make a dollar for every time you've taken this ONE author's story or that opionated view of some particularly disgruntled poster from Dailykos that you paste over and over and over again, you'd be a multi-millionaire by now.

How about using FACTS instead of opinionated hearsay from now on to back up your wild claims that Bill and Hillary are in bed with the Bushes.

You wanna post a fact about Bill Clinton? Here's one for you: He was the best president since JFK, and if Hillary happens to get elected, she'll make another great Democratic president. :smoke:

125. Robert Parry is not a disgruntled blogger - he is a REAL INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER
something that is an anathema to the corrupt and those who coverup for the corruopt.

Would you call Hersch a disgruntled poster? Would you call Jonathan Landay a disgruntled poster?

You never speak to the TRUTH that many outstanding matters that Clinton had control of in 1993 were left UNPURSUED, and ignore their significance even though those matters also contained the roots of 9-11 and this Iraq war policy.

And instead you heap scorn on those who expected a Dem president to do the right thing for the citizens of this country and CLEAN UP after the years of corruption by exposing more of the truth of what had been done in their name - instead, he chose to cover up for BushInc.

Clinton made that choice but you don't want him held responsible for that choice he made in all our names and you don't even want it mentioned or discussed.

I would have chosen exposing the corruption. What would you have chosen if you had taken office in 1993?

See the "or" in there? That means the "author" and the "disgruntled poster from dailykos" are two different people, not the same. Geeesh.

Don't know the candidates well enough to choose one over the others; I probably prefer Gore, but that might just be because he was robbed last time. But, from the point of view of the world's basic survival, all the likely Democrats seem to be light years ahead of the likely Republicans.

They destroyed? Why because Hillary didn't make an impassioned defense of Kerry?

I think she's a great Senator. I don't plan to support her in the primaries but if she makes it to the General Election I'll vote for her.

I think what you'll find when it comes to Senator Clinton is fewer people that consider themselves progressive or liberal picking her as a first choice. As a result they won't be working for her, but will probably still vote for her in the GE. However, she's going to have plenty of money so I doubt she'll miss their hands and hearts all that much.

I don't trust her anymore. She's too tight with the Rupert Murdock types & she bailed on the Vote Reform Election Fraud issue.

Bi-Partisan to me doesn't mean taking rethug money, because it always has strings attached and part of me says if she's getting rethug money, then she's a DINO and could be more dangerous than anyone.

John Conyers has the integrity to tell the truth when everyone else ran away, so if he trusts her then I would too.

Hard to tell from the peon seats if she really cares about the people anymore or if she's just on a power trip.

we "Hillary" supporters must try to set an example and whenever possible observe the "Golden Rule"!!

Sometimes it's hard......but we do try!

Right now I strongly support her, but in politics 1-year can be a long time and alot can happen, so I always keep my options open.

I'm not sure she could get elected easier than someone like Obama, but if she does find a way to fight and claw her way into the WH, I believe she'll make every one of us proud....and she'll put any fears to rest that stem from right wing attacks about her or from extreme far left hysteria about her that we encounter here occasionally. But maybe female power can counteract that. One thing's for sure...if she's our candidate...the election of 2008 will have the largest turnout in history for years to come.

But would prefer Clark to get the nomination - after him I will be happy to support any Dem candidate.

130. As of now she's my first choice for 2008
I live in NY, I love the job she has done here, and I think she would do a great job running the country. Good luck to her.

132. Do you mean, if given no other choice, would we vote for Republican HRC?
Nope, not even if she is the democratic nominee. She's still a repub.

I guess that must mean she's a centrist.

145. You know - a lot of people liked "The Titanic"
They were real excited to buy their tickets and get on board.

But in the end - hundreds of those passengers paid with their lives ...

It's no coincidence that most Republicans want Hillary to be the Dem. nominee.

It's like: "Jump on board! We're going down together!"

Let's all find ways to show our support for Al Gore! :)

149. I don't have any problems with her that would prevent
me from supporting her in the general election.

as for the primaries, I'm as willing to listen to her as to any of the other candidates

something that can't be said about a lot of the internet left

whose hatred of HRC is something I have a hard time understanding

just like I had a hard time understanding the left's hatred of both Gore and Kerry...

150. Another Clarkista who likes Hillary here ;^)
I am a New Yorker who appreciates our Junior Senator greatly. She has certainly proven to be a great asset to our great State. I don't think, however, she would be a particularly good candidate for the Presidency. Its really time for some new faces.

163. I think this needs a kick since Hillary is now getting more press...if possible
now that she is "listening" to Iowans and critiques are coming out on her endeavors.

What ya all think of Hillary now? I haven't made up my mind (besides, I'm a Clark supporter) and haven't read all the reports so I was just wondering what the feelings of DUer's are. Just courious...not trying to persuade anyone either one way or the other. It would be nice to keep this thread neutralish. (If Steven Colbert can make up new words...so can I)

The reason I'd like to know is if my candidate doesn't run or drops out..I 'd like to know about other candidates. Or, if he wins :bounce: who would be a good running mate?

I have such admiration for her...her ability to carry the projected shit of millions and keep standing tall,
her work ethic, her intelligence, her ability to focus. Could go on and on.

She is prepared like no other candidate that we've got. I look forward to her campaign unfolding and wish her well.
