Jim Webb's speech was a drink of water to a thirsty nation.

Senator Webb's brevity and clarity last night was awesome and I think
we saw a speech that years from now will be studied. Mr. Webb touched
all the right topics and came across as very credible.

Webb's credibility comes from his pedigree; he is a son of a vet, a combat vet,
a graduate of Georgetown Law School, an accomplished author, a former Under
Secretary of the Navy, and right now he has a son in combat in Iraq. We are
so lucky that he was picked to give the democratic response to *'s SOTU.

Webb's speech was so strong that I bet you dimes to doughnuts that right now
Rush and the rest of his ilk are trying to do a hit job on him. He scares the
shit out "them." Don't waste your time getting upset by these blowhards
their time is rapidly coming to an end and they now it. Can you say fairness doctrine?

I for one don't want to see Senator Webb try to move up to the White House.
With his skill set and true understanding about the "real world" he can
become the type of senator that can really help our county, make Virginia
damn proud (hey, VA I will trade you Sen Voinovich, Bob Taft, Bob Ney, Ken
Blackwell, and Deb Pryce for Jim Webb right now), and give the democratic
party some real spine. The man has gravitas and a brilliant future.

2. I agree with all that including his staying in the Senate
Over the years I have come to regard the Senate as the real road-block to the aspirations of millions like me (middle class, blue-collar).

Those aspirations being to simply be represented by somebody in that chamber!

If this guy remains someone who will speak for the middle class, I want that guy inside the Sensory Deprivation Chamber we all still call the Senate.

3. Webb's a true alpha male
He looks like he could probably kill most guys with one hand.. It's good he's on our side. It's good he is an example of the type of politician we should demand. I myself can't wait until Hackett (sp?) from Ohio gets elected to national office.

4. Paul Hackett is pretty much done with politics
I would be surprised if he runs again.

He is the real deal too. I went to a real small meet up w/
him and he was great .... Paul did not give "political" answers
to questions but straight up what he thought.

@ that time I thought he was Presidential material. But if Paul
wants to stay home with his family and take care of his law pratice
.... more power to him.

5. Webb exudes "strength" and courage of convictions
that many average Americans long to see in their Congressmen
and Senators.
