All I want is something real
Jim Webb`s response to Junior Bush last night helped me realize how deeply I long for a plain-spoken political leader. Webb`s words weren`t all decked out with Beltway refinements or consultant`s packaging, he just sat alone with a photo of his Dad and lessons from personal history. He didn`t have to rent a flight suit or wear an answer machine under his jacket. He didn`t need a KILLIN` KILLERS backdrop or a photo op on a Marine base. He just put Bush over his knee, whacked him a few times and said....get it right or we`ll show you how. Plain-spoken and gutsy, a long-overdue, high-set bar.

Sometime today I heard a couple of politicians say they couldn`t support the non-binding resolution against Bush`s troop surge because they didn`t like the use of the word "escalation." I almost threw up. If that wasn`t a perfect example of the everyday, ongoing bullshit we`ve endured, I don`t know what is. People dropping dead all over Iraq and some senator wants to "study" an alternative to the word escalation? Hey! Be my guest. Take your time. Go away for a Renaissance Weekend while you`re at it. No rush whatsoever!

This is what I`m talking about. I just want something real. You want to stay the course in Iraq (escalation and all)then step right up beside George W. and show your support for the wooden carts filled with body parts parked outside Baghdad morgues or the corridors at Walter Reed bustling with movement of wheelchair tires. Join Duncan Hunter and John McCain with a big thumbs up for a killing spree. Send the troops back for the TENTH time if that`s what it takes.

Stopping George Bush is going to take more than a non-binding resolution. Personally, I want this man brought to account. I really don`t want to be sitting here in a few months typing about how sad I am that "the number" has risen to 4,000 or that Bush`s "comma in history" somehow creeped on over to Iran. Guts. That`s what it will take. No wishy-washy, middle-of-the-road resolution deals. No commissions to study commissions. Just guts....something real.

2. Non-binding is the only option at this point cause Junta Bush
has taken his power illegally, but retains it in his hand.

We can't actually stop him before he does it, but we don't have to go along willingly either.

3. well said.
Webb didn't need any b.s. backdrops to tell his story. He briefly showed us a pic of his father.

We won't ever see Jr. do THAT.
