Hillary Clinton Isn't For Me
Edited on Wed Jan-24-07 06:32 PM by Kerry2008
I listened to her web chats, and visited her website.

All I've seen is a carefully crafted well oiled Clinton machine where substance is nothing, and generic talking points is everything.

I waited for her to speak passionately about the IWR, and instead got nothing worth listening.

I know it's early, but already she's alienated me. I remained skeptical yet open minded about Hillary, but she's given me NO reason to support her. And I doubt she will!

I WILL not support her merely because of national polls, that mean NOTHING. N-O-T-H-I-N-G!!! Perhaps you should look at the polls in the states that MATTER, but even then...it's too soon!!

I WILL not support her merely because her name is Clinton.

I WILL not support her merely because she has the media hype.

And I WILL not support her because I believe in Presidential candidates with heart and substance. Two things she seems to lack. She's very polarizing, and risky.

If she gets the nomination, I'll support her. But until then, I'll pass. Thank you, anyway :)

1. I can understand that. Great post. She's not my first choice...she's my third
right now. But if she gets the nom I'm behind her 100%.

If she gets the nod, she'll have my vote :)

But I'd rather our nominee NOT be her!

I believe Gore (if he runs), Obama, or Clark (if he runs) have an opening for your support ..... :)

34. AK, you read my mind.
All three of those were my other back up candidates if Kerry didn't run. And well, he didn't run. So I'll be considering those three closely. Gore is my first choice of the three. Not sure which would get my support next after that, Clark or Obama. Tough call!

...so where's the problem, plenty of other people to vote for in the primaries.

If not you'll have to decide what to do at election time.

Very respectful, it seems :)

Hillary Clinton just does nothing for me. And I really did remain open minded about her.

If she wins the nomination, I'll support her.

Until then, I can't support her. And I know a lot of people who feel the same.

9. I pretty much feel the same way
I want a woman president so badly. But my first choice right now is Edwards. If Hillary gets the nom, I'll be there working for her campaign, but she's not my first choice. Of course, I live in a state where my primary vote matters not one whit, so I'm just going to have to wait and see.

I am sick of moderate moderate/right candidates being called liberal because they have a D next to their names. I want a *real* liberal and I don't see one in the bunch. With the exception of Kucinich, maybe.

I think people Hillary's age and thereabouts are so traumatised from the backlash 80's and 90's (backlash against the 60's and 70's) that they're afraid of their own damn shadows. it's pathetic really. They're too afraid to say what they really believe. You would think a person would develop more personal strength with age, not less.

Of course I could be giving them too much credit and they aren't liberals, merely corporatists. Which is why I'd prefer to support Kucinich or Edwards. Nothing worse than a corporatist masquerading as a liberal.

10. Not my first choice, but...
Edited on Wed Jan-24-07 06:30 PM by Deep13
...I would not go so far as to say she lacks heart or substance. I've met her twice (briefly) and contrary to what the corporate media reports, she has a warm personality. I think like most of us, she is worried about the future. On the other hand, to govern you first need to win and that means manipulating the media and raising a shit-load of money. Once won, to get anything done, you need to be able to be a manager of a complex and dysfunctional bureaucracy. However good someone might be on the issues, I'm not willing to support anyone who can't win or can't govern if he does.

For now, I'm for Bill Richardson.

11. I'll take that one step further
If she gets the nomination, I will NOT vote for her.

I will not vote for a Republican candidate for President, no matter who it is.

I will vote third-party or write in somebody else's name.

To me, Hillary Clinton represents more of the same - the same corporate elite running things, the same fearful baby-step approach to national policy change in areas such as health care and energy reform, the same same same. She's the flip side of the GOP-Democratic coin.

I'm sure she would be a competent steward of the executive branch of our government, and our standing in the world would most likely improve. But unless she comes out strongly against the Bush Iraq War and the neocon foreign policy, unless she comes out with a bold plan to improve the lot of average American workers and their families, unless she demonstrates that she believes in something more than just her desire to be the first woman president, no thank you. Four to eight more years of slightly better government, but still no relief in sight for the average American.

I just don't like her. ANYBODY ELSE, just not her.

And I wanted to see if she had anything better to say as Presidential candidate--then she did Senator. And I was wrong.

I've made up my mind, she isn't the right person for the job. I pretty much knew it all along, but I wanted to hear what she had to say as 08' candidate first.

Thank you for your meanspirited post though.

but if she is nominated I will hold my nose and give her my vote, I wont vote against her and run a risk of splitting the votes. I want so much to see a woman president in my lifetime but she's not the one for me. I loved Bill as a president but even when she was first lady there was something about her that was like nails on a chalkboard that I couldnt stand.

The more people diss her on here and the other friendly blogs, the more I am starting to support her candidacy. She is not my first choice, but somewhere in the top 4 (Clinton, Edwards, Obama, and Vilsack). Perhaps it is all the reminders from the attacks her husband faced which make me nostalgic for why I supported Bill so passionately. Maybe it is sticking up for people who are being hypercriticized ... who knows, but it is making me stand up for her more and more.

or give you, N-O-T-H-I-N-G, 20 different ways

It is either dishonest or coming from the mentally ill

I know what I’m talking about.Part of my paying profession is to psyche assess some very dangerous people, who have done some very bad things.

So, I'm not talking out of my hat

p.s. Since you seem to know the op, why are you calling a he....she? hmmm?

I tried to remain respectful, because while I will not support her...I like Hillary.

The posters above saying I was possibly mentally ill for liking her but not supporting her was out of line. And also accusing me of making a premature decision like I haven't followed Hillary Clinton before her 08' run, and know where her heart is. I remained open minded going into her announcement, but she officially lost me soon after with nothing of substance worth changing my mind.

I respectfully don't want to support Hillary, but I will when and if she wins the nomination. Doubt that will occur, but we will see!

47. With all due respect, how do you know?
That they will vote for Hillary, I mean.

We are a year out, many things will change. Obama and Edwards will give her a run for her money. And once we get to the debates, the campaign will begin to have more of a voice. I wouldn't even call Hillary the clear frontrunner right now, I'd say she's tied with Obama and Edwards. You could suggest otherwise, but the only thing showing her ahead is year-out national polls that are meaningless.

She'll not power walk to the nomination, it'll be an uphill climb! Not to say she can't do it, but I don't see a lot of excitement from Democrats about Hillary.
