I am really disappointed in 'our' Congress
with their actions last night during SOTU.

To be clapping (even politely) was wrong imho. They should have turned their backs to him politely or not clapped at all. WE the people have told them unequivocally we are against the war (and will again in DC this weekend) and what do they do - clap when chimpy walks in. Unf*g real.

The clapping in Bush's deluded mind signals acceptance. He only understands basics.....and for all the morning after polls, he don't care. But to have been 'ridiculed' on tv all over the world would have told the world (and a lot of us as well I would bet)we don't support his crap. It would have at least told the rest of the world we're done with him and his crooked antics and they are finito..over. We missed a good chance to at least show semblance of caring. And any dumbass who thinks he was 'humble' last night has definitely been drinking the kookaid.

But no, all our spineless wonders stood there and clapped and clapped and made him smile and think that everyone still loves him. Even when they panned the audience, most were smiling. BLAGH!!!!!!!

So far they ain't showin' me much....and yes, I have sent ALL my reps and Senators an email stating the same thing. I am so disappointed they didn't find some way to express their supposed displeasure with him in such a public forum.

Kudos to Jim Webb and his rebuttal. Does anyone have a link to it?

Rant over.

1. They said they were showing respect for the position
and not the person.

2. Try the Political Video forum
or www.crooksandliars.com

for Webb's speech.

I didn't watch the SOTU but Dean said it was the office that applause were for, in other words not him but the fact of the Presidency. Did they go overboard? One thing to be polite and another to seem to agree heartily.

4. Well...
position this......

That is about the weakest argument I have EVER heard. What about respect for the PEOPLE who ELECTED them to do a JOB???? What about the military folks who are dying over there...oh hell, I could go on and on...they f'd up. Period.

12. I agree with you. When will the citizens of this country get some
respect?

We have been shit on for the past 6 years -- how about someone looking out for us once in awhile??

I can honestly say that if I was a member of Congress attending the SOTU with pissypants, there is no way I would applaud and I certainly would not stand.

3. I agree, I couldn't believe some of the applause that was given
to him by the Dems and Pelosi at some of the times in that speech. I yelled at the screen at least a couple of times "Why are you applauding and standing up?"

6. They are professional people. They will be professional. You do not
act like a child in that position and you show respect for the office and your office.
If you had a crummy boss how would you act at work? Would you act up and be a fool or be professional and adult?
I am not being harsh. Just want you to think and understand that it doesn't matter if you like or dislike someone. When you are a professional and an adult you behave that way. You can fight in the appropriate manner but, you don't embarass your voters, your state and yourself by being silly.
Reality is that, there is a time and a place for everything and to be immature and childish doesn't get you anywhere and makes you look bad and the bad person is then seen sympathetically.

9. I AM an adult and I DO know
when to draw the line and the analogy of a poor boss don't cut it with me. I never had a boss who wantonly murdered and lied. Bush has. They all know it. He is a constitutional disaster and has raped the liberties so many of our ancestors have fought for.

Nice try. I can respect an office and I know how to act responsibly as an adult....but I also know how to act when a crime has been perpetrated and NOT coddle the perpetrator.

It's time we stood up to this freak and his side show.

Again, I understand how some people would think we are all divided...and let's face facts...we are. The only thing we ARE united on is that he has to go and take his circus act with him...

Respect for the office - not when it has been tarnished as bad as it is. They missed a chance to send a signal to ALL of us that the crap stops now.

And no offense taken at your 'harshness.'

13. The thing is, Bush doesn't do the "hiring and firing"...we do.
I don't consider the refusal to applaud the president as childish. Our pResident is supposed to represent all of us -- he has obviously not done that. He has made a mess of everything that he has touched, bankrupted our country, and caused thousands of deaths.

He should not be applauded.

11. No one had to utter a word...
that's the best demonstration one can give. No-one also had to clap either. Silence sometimes sends the most effective message.

15. Off with their heads ...

Something tells me that if this were late 18th century France, little Robespierre clones would be running around all over the place.

And the results would be just as positive.
