Unresolved: Most disgusting moment of the SOTU speech
The most annoying, disgusting moment of the SOTU speech was the recognition of the Baby Einstein business. Who do you suppose paid for that primtime plug for a private business? An on virtually all the major TV networks worldwide?

How about just holding a public auction and selling the SOTU speech to the highest bidder for TV ads.

That plug for a private business offended me more than Clinton's dalliance in the oval office. At least I was not tricked into watching Clinton's abuse of his office for personal pleasure. There is no doubt in my mind that Bush's little ad for Baby Einstein products was placed into his speech in order to benefit Bush in some personal way either through campaign donations or some other form of personal gain or pleasure. Regardless of how wonderful the Baby Einstein products are, in my view, that plug prostituted and contaminated the entire speech. (My husband disagrees -- he says the speech was already so sick, it was already contaminated.)

Bush has simply sold the power of his office to the likes of Baby Einstein and other private businesses. How ugly. How repugnant.

2. That moment completely turned me off of purchasing any Baby Einstein products.
To watch the founder sit there basking in being lauded by an insane war criminal certainly wasn't a selling point for her business to me.

3. Maybe they could sell naming rights to the SOTU?
Like they do for stadiums. Next year - The EXXON State of the Union Address!

4. opening up new product placement and commercial frontiers
The next SOTU will have Bush wearing a jacket with STP decals. An aide will be seen rushing up and cracking a Disani water for him to drink. A banner behind him will read "Missoni Accomplished". Bush will try to use the word "ignite" at least 2 dozen times - usually in an educational context as in " we must ignites our children to read".

5. I can't wait!
You are so right. And you understand exactly why I objected so much to that plug. If Bush gets by with this, plugging your donors' private businesses will become a tradition in the SOTU and everyone will think its OK.

We need to complain loudly about Bush's little product placement.

I'm not sure why others , especially the MSM , haven't commented on how strange and inappropriate it was. I really do not ever remember a company or product being singled out in a SOTU before. Only individuals.

7. I was more outraged that other than
saying 'her child' & her name, there was no other gender reference in that commercial. He could have been talking about anyone. He hates women!

8. To be fair
I think the idea was to use her as an example of America's entreprenurial spirit.

If she was trying to run an ad campaign, I think she would try to find a spokesperson more credible than a man widely regarded to be one of the biggest failures in American history.
