America Needs a Hero.
Edited on Fri Jan-26-07 06:23 PM by tecelote
We need a hero on Capital Hill.

Someone that is going to stand up and say that America does not torture. America does not spy on it's citizens. America does not wage war unless it is the very, very last resort.

We need someone to notice what America is doing today and to be outraged.

We need someone on Capital Hill to Impeach the President and Vice President because America can not stand by while this happens no matter who is doing it.

Until then, we are all responsible for the criminal actions of our country.

America needs a hero.

1. The chimp has said all of those things.
Talk is propaganda. Actions are everything.

But I agree with your sentiment.

3. You know, I think the tricky thing may be that we DON'T need a hero...
...I think the tricky thing may be that nobody is going to come and save us.. maybe we ALL need to be heros.

4. It might be the trick.
I hear there will be a lot of heros on Capital Hill tomorrow.

It's too bad the liberal media will be bowing down to the corporate god while the people speak.

12. God yes...And you know what's fucked up?
Edited on Fri Jan-26-07 07:25 PM by lvx35
the fact that people are abandoning traditional media in hordes for this inferior format on the net, and folks like CNN are claiming its the Internet technology which is making people switch, not the content we can find on the net. Bullshit! If I could plop down in front of a TV and get the same info I get from combing over all these blogs, I would do it in a flash. But watching TV means I have to swallow BS, and I just can't do it anymore.

13. Damn good point!
It's the content. People are sick of hearing the corporate drool and are hungry for real opinions from real people. The people will seek the truth whether using good technology or not.

This is a great talking point. It's the content, not the technology!

Just when the right wing corporate media thought they had the airwaves bought up, the internet revolution happens.

6. In "Earth in Balance" Al Gore say exactly that - we need to all stand
up against wrong. I also wonder when I read the above post what you have been listening to the last 100 hours. Many of our Democrats have stood up now that they have the power to do something. The problem is that there are so many problems that you have to know which committee to listen to. I assume that justice should be the one to address torture.

14. hmm, yes.
As far as what I have been listening to, DU is my only source of information input other than class and work. In class I have been reading a book called When Information came of age: Technologies of Knowledge in the Age of Reason and Revolution, 1700-1850 By Headrick. Its been interesting because I am learning about the profound power of ordinary people, most strikingly normal mathematicians and scientists who became instrumental in the French Revolution, the Enlightenment. Its interesting to think that we all have the power to affect massive cultural change through our own area of study, whatever that may be.

18. Yes, many of our Democrats in Congress are off to a good
start. I think they'll continue to get harder and harder on this administration.
Think Nancy Pelosi, Jim Webb, Ted Kennedy (just heard the speech about minimum wage, it was great!) and many others.

5. What we need is honesty. Since when is an honest person a hero?
Honesty is and should be just a condition of being humane....At this rate, the Federal branch of the government is sidelining itself and states will and are making their own laws....

And we all know where that road will lead one day...

7. Smedley Butler , My neighbor CooleyHurd , and Al Gore.....
Edited on Fri Jan-26-07 06:47 PM by orpupilofnature57
.... CooleyHurd enjoys his life and job too much to subject himself to the scrutiny of the superficialities of a politician.Smedley is dead, though he did as much to save his country from villains as did Woodward and Bernstein.Al Gore is a human being that has his flaws, and is the closest thing to a Hero that can stand the test of bullshit.http://www.warisaracket.org/

I found it on the web.

It is pretty awesome, though. Every time I post it I get a lot of positive comments.
