..... what kind of totally bullshit 'news' is this? It seems to me the current rules of engagement already allow this. If a person is on Iraqi soil, has a gun - or even a rock - and aims it at a soldier, the soldier is already 'authorizes' to shoot him.

Why this new 'order'?

To me, it seems to be nothing more than Commander Costume posturing and showing us who's in charge. The order is perfectly meaningless. There simply is no prohibition on killing the nationals of any country who happen to be in Iraq, cocked and loaded.

I also don't see it as any particular provocation of Iran. They know what's going on, too.

I think we're seeing an inceasingly impotent fake commander trying to appear 'resolute'.

Soldiers would be able to use deadly force to protect themselves from visiting bad guys. Didn't they have permission to do this before? WTF kind of stupid shit is this, anyway? Is Bush so desperate to show he's a tough guy that now he threatens to say soldiers can and will protect themselves?
