Because they have betrayed our Constitution and their duty to uphold the laws of the land. Simply put, they refuse to hold their "president" accountable for anything. As mentioned in the NY Times this morning (

<snip> All of that was distressing enough. But in Friday’s Times, Adam Liptak gave an account of the way the administration — after grandly announcing that it was finally going to obey the law on wiretapping — is trying to quash lawsuits over Mr. Bush’s outlaw eavesdropping operations by imposing outrageous secrecy and control over the courts.
Justice Department lawyers are withholding evidence from plaintiffs and even restricting the access of judges to documents in cases involving Mr. Bush’s decision to authorize the warrantless interception of e-mail and phone calls. In one suit, Justice Department lawyers tried to seize computers from the plaintiffs’ lawyers to remove a document central to their case against the government.)
What can be said about the Republican Party other than that they have betrayed America? For six years, they rubberstamped everything that the White House wanted. It was as if we no longer had a Congress or a Senate but a King, or a dictator. Now that they are no longer in control, they are still intent on protecting the criminal acts and secrets of this Administration.
The people should ask: Is this the type of Party that we want in control of our government? Is this the type of Party that should even exist should be asked? They do not have the capacity to represent the people of this nation. They are dangerous and detrimental to everything this nation stands for. They are not "American" in any sense of the word.
I know it is prohibited from calling people "traitors" - especially when they represent a major political Party in our nation. But I challenge anyone to explain to me how they have not betrayed all of us? And they continue to do so as we speak.
