Poll question: Would you vote for Kucinich in the general election
Regardless of whether or not you will support him in the primary election, if Kucinich gets the nod as the Democratic nominee, will you vote for him in the general election?

(Just curious how different this poll will be from the HRC one.)

1. Of course I will. I will also vote for Hillary if she is the nominee.
That being said, Hillary is not my first choice and Kucinich is unquestionably to my left. But still I'd vote for both of them. I'd prefer Dennis K just because he is clearly spoken and principled. I know he wouldn't take any crap from the Republic party!

17. Lieberman is not a Democrat anymore!
There is a story on LBN, and a video on CNN, in which Lieberman is saying that he might vote GOP in 2008. Anybody that votes for the Taleban Party is an enemy of us all!

He would be the only candidate for which that would apply.

8. I only voted "Yes" because there wasn't a chance to vote "HELL, YES"!
Edited on Sun Jan-28-07 07:39 PM by Ken Burch
In all liklihood Dennis won't get nominated. But there would be no good reason for ANY Democrat not to vote for him if he did.

I think we can assume that Dennis' supporters will be much more loyal to any other candidate if nominated than Hillary's supporters' will be to Dennis should he pull off a McGovern-like primary campaign miracle. If Dennis were nominated, Carville and McAuliffe would launch Democrats for(REPUBLICAN NOMINEE'S NAME HERE) twenty minutes later. This would be entirely consistent, since the DLC was never anything but the successor to Democrats for Nixon.

9. I love Dennis Kucinich!
In a world full of good people, he would be President. He has the brains, the guts and the determination. He spoke brilliantly and passionately yesterday. I admire him and his supporters very much. The longer he stays in the picture the better the Democratic platform will be.

12. If he wins the nomination, yes.
In all reality, it will not happen.

But yes, I would vote for him. President Kucinich would be tons better than any Republican candidate.

14. Absolutely
He is the only candidate in the race so far who has come out strongly against this war. I know a lot of republicans who would vote for him also if the republicans don't run a candidate that speaks out against this war.

The rest of the candidates are trying to appear tough on terrorism, and only oppose the surge. They are trying to have it both ways. They are out of touch with the public. What they don't understand is the republicans are as sick of "tough on terrorism" BS as we are. That is why we won in the mid terms.

31. I certainly hope you're not referring to me. I simply want to know what the apparent
problem with Mr. Kucinich is. I very much like him and think it's perfectly reasonable to want to know why an unknown Republican in a hypothetical general election would garner so many Democratic votes if he were the Democratic choice. Surely it must be a terrible flaw. One that I am unaware of and wish to know.

33. Not referring to you at all. And I don't think Kuc is losing votes to Repubs
I think these people would just stay home or vote 3rd party. You've seen the "I won't vote for Hillary/DLC candidates/anyone who voted for x" posts?

You would think after 2000 we'd all realize just how bad things can get under a Republican president.

36. True. I think those are the people, who, haven't yet figured out
that everyone has been exposed to the horrors visited/forced upon this world in the last 6 years.

I would like to know if people who have that attitude("I won't vote for Hillary/DLC candidates/anyone who voted for x") have it less, or more than they did before the last couple of elections. Could be a an interesting percent...

28. In any other Democratic nation, Kucinich would be the centrist candidate
Tells you how far this country has been dragged to the extreme right, doesn't it?

Would I vote for him? Hell yes! Will we ever have that opportunity? Not unless we excise the neocon/corporatist cancers from this party first. :(

35. Kuc is to the far left of Harper in Canada, Howard in Australia, Tony Blair
so I don't know if I would say he is a "centrist" in any other countries. I do agree on the rightward US drift statement though.
