Or can it possibly be both? Anyhow, I read a fascinating book recently called "The Female Brain". *thud* One of the doctors in the hospital where I work wrote it. On the jacket is says "A must-read for every woman and every man who know her." Quite an eye-opener for a male to read in such detail what you women folk experience and have it explained so vividly.

Basically, with the discovery of how certain hormones function on the brain, research in recent decades has given psychiatrists a big picture of the hormonal stages of a woman's life. I HAD NO IDEA!!! Basically, women were born with several areas of the brain larger and ready for finer tuning. Of the brain functions where women and men differ significantly, women dedicate more of your brain to all of them but sex -- that one is not even close. Women have several hormones in near constant flux each one affecting your brain, and thus, your experience differently. Us guys, pretty much a constant level of one hormone -- testosterone, and a lot of it decreasing slowly over the years. On the one hand, I don't see how you can put up with everyday being different. On the other hand, you can't help coming away without a little bit of brain envy.

Kind of scary that after menopause, it's common for a woman to experience the best years of her life, right about the time men are becoming really needy. Fascinating book. Challenges you to rethink your notions of what sexism is.
