Where do the '08 candidates stand on NOLA?
I keep reading all of the these '08 threads and, unless I have missed something, have yet to see any candidate stress the urgency of rebuilding NOLA.

Yes, Iraq is first and foremost on ALL of our minds, as is health-care, impeachment of these madwo/men, potential invasion of Iran, etc. But equally important is rebuilding the magical city of New Orleans.

I am still on the fence as my candidate (President Gore) has yet to throw his hat into the ring. In the event he does not, I am looking for someone that puts NOLA on their "must do" list.

2. John Edwards announced his candidacy from New Orleans,
where he had been working to help landscape a home ravaged by the flood.

Edwards also took college students to NOLA last spring break to work on restoring some homes.

4. For future reference
Wes Clark is involved in getting green housing built in NOLA. He is also arranging transport for evacuees to return to the 9th Ward. He makes it a little difficult for his supporters because he won't do photo ops on these things and we only find out in dribs and drabs, but he is doing good work there.

12. Edwards took college kids to NOLA for
Spring Break last year...I think about 800 signed up?

Also, I know Gore helped during the evacuations, not sure about Clark, but

the rest of the Dem field were in Congress at the time, so probably no time?

15. Additionally, what Clark said about NOLA as events were unfolding....
Please know that he was truly the first to call out the Bush administration on their mishandling of the NOLA disaster.

http://www.tpmcafe.com/story/2005/9/1/123536/7907

and did work with James Lee Witt of Witt & Associates on the post-planning issue shortly thereafter. Clark is vice-chairman there.
