Warner or Webb for VP
Virginia has 13 electorial votes and is the most likely swing state with a strong Democrat. OHio is a swing state, but there isn't a strong democrat from there, but Bayh is from neighboring Indiana.

I think that if Hillary is the nominee, she would need to balance the ticket to get the indpendent, centrist white male voters. So I think her best choice is Warner, a popular centrist governor.

Webb would be okay with his military background, but he will only have served 2 years in govt so we'll have to see how those 2 years turn out.

Richardson would help win New Mexico, but they don't have enough electoral votes and it would be 'extreme' to have a woman/hispanic minority ticket.

Vilsack would turn Iowa, but again not enough electoral votes.

1. No,.....No,...... and No
--- Webb has a job to do in the Senate, and it would be better to let him go ahead and do it. He wouldn't run with Hillary, anyway. M. Warner isn't busy at the moment, but there are more acceptable choices for VP on the ticket, than there are VA senatorial candidates who would almost certainly take R-John Warner's seat in the Senate,.. thereby helping to increase the D-Senate majority. And finally, if these speculations are predicated on Hillary being the nominee, then you are being shortsighted about winning in 2008. Hillary may look fine now,.. but you have no idea what Bush is going to do to transform the election terrain between now and then.

6. Webb
I agree that Webb is more needed in the Senate. But to say that Webb wouldn't accept the VP spot if Hillary was the nominee is upsetting because if Webb cared about the Democratic party and wanted to help secure the presidency, I would hope and pray that he would answer the call, if asked, and show his loyalty to the party.

John Warner is old and may retire, but he is anti-Iraq and may be able to pull out another re-election.

Mark Warner will carry VA for the Dems - VA just needs a reason to vote Dem.

2. I can see your idea
Warner and Webb strong personalities who IMO need to lead.
I intend this in a most respectful way, but I cannot
visualize either of these men in 2ond Place.
Webb is philosophically different from Hillary and We need
him more in the Senate.

9. clark
I thought clark didn't want to be vp, under any circumstances. I don't know anyone who has ever voted for clark, so i don't know which states he could carry.

5. .
If the elections are fair (:eyes:), we have way better chances to win Ohio than Virginia whether we have someone from Ohio on the ticket or not. And that is all we need. I think we have better chances to win in NM or Colorado, too.
People vote differently when it's about voting for a Senator or voting for the President. We need Webb in the Senate and maybe Warner could run for the Senate, too? Having someone from Virginia as VP doesn't have to mean that Virginia would be save for us (see Gore and TN, see Edwards).
Further, all Kerry states + Virginia won't give us the Presidency.

7. VA
If we get VA, then we just need to turn Iowa, or NM, or west VA.

Gore and Edwards were seen as too Washington, but Governors have a greater connection to their state voters, which is why Warner will win VA.

10. VA will go Democratic regardless...
Each election cycle more and more voters in Virginia vote Democratic, I think this time it will go to the Democrat regardless.

11. good to hear
Thats good to hear. There are a lot of newcomers to Virgina, northern virginia, so that helps Dems. However, the rural area is still very republican.

I still am skeptical about a Democratic sweep of the nation, even though many people think it is so. It depends who the republican nominee is, and the Dem field doesn't have a perfect candidate either, at least no one has solidified anything. Each candidate has his/her area of weakness.

If Hillary is the nominee, then we need to focus on getting to 270 first. She can win all the states that Kerry won, and will need a strong VP to help her convince the swing states. The biggest swing state with a solid Dem VP is Viriginia.

Florida is possible, but Nelson is just a Senator like Clinton, and they have a republican governor - so I think Florida is a reach and Nelson won't help much.

It will probably come down to Ohio, but I don't know anything about Ohio or any Democrats from Ohio.
